I remember this day. I was working day shift after Officer Boyle was shot. We were in two person patrol cars and I remember we were fixated to the radio, because they kept giving us updates on his condition. At first it looked like he would pull through, but then the radio crackled with the message that he was pronounced dead. The shock waves were running through the entire city. It was a bad day for Law Enforcement. R.I.P. Officer Ted Thomas Retired Philadelphia P.D.

You will always be remembered. You made the ultimate sacrifice on that February day. You were a part of my father's first squad, as a rookie cop, when he first came on the job. He says he remembers you like it was yesterday, strutting around in your leather jacket. My father was much older when he joined the police department, but he said you were young and full of life. He talks to me about you and this god awful day, when your life was taken way too soon. He says how the city was in complete shock and the incident was a wake up call for the Philadelphia police department at the time, and they began doing two man car patrols. I wish that I could have had the honor of meeting you. I think about all of the fallen police officers, around the country, and especially in my city, Philadelphia. I think about the ultimate sacrifice, that many overlook, that a police officer makes every single day as soon as they put their blue uniform on. May you always rest in peace and may you always look over your loved ones. You will forever have a place in my father's heart and now mine. As I saw on a reflection posted for you earlier, "A hero is always remembered for his sacrifice." Rest in peace Danny.

Officer Boyle, I met your mother and a sister at a rally supporting the PPD earlier today. I was so touched because of the impact her reading about you had on me, and also your young age. You were just starting to live your dream when your life was so cruelly taken.
Thank-you for your sacrifice. You will never be forgotten.

To the family and friends of Officer Daniel R. Boyle and his fellow officers:
On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to Danny's memory on the ninteenth anniversary of the day he so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.
May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing as the agony of this loss never diminishes.
I know Danny's father must have been proud to have had his son follow in his footsteps.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of service Danny gave to his community and the citizens of Pennslyvania, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 6, 1991.

I remember the fun times we had when I first met you when you were 17. Then years later we came in contact again. I still miss you even though its been 17 years. My best memory is when we went out during a snowstorm and he told me not to worry he drove like that all the time. I thought oh boy here we go. He was a perfect gentleman in every way. You are dearly missed Dan. I thank you for the great job and will see you again one day.
