Your loss is felt across the country. My thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Teasley's family, friends and brothers and sisters in LE. Every day I get to talk to a hero: my brother. Today, I mourn a hero: his brother. Rest in Peace, Deputy.
The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it. ~ Thucydides
The ordinary man is involved in action, the hero acts. An immense difference. ~ Henry Miller

I mourn your loss; the loss of your life, the loss to our community, the loss to your comrades, and certainly the loss to your family. I hope that if you did not have the opportunity to know St. Michael in this cruel world that you are getting to know him in Heaven.
I am saddened that your death was the result of yet another law enforcement officer murdered in the line of duty. I am still astonished at the evil which lurks in some men’s souls; that which causes them to commit these senseless acts of killing; three people today, you, the judge, and the reporter.
I hope that your loss is publicly recognized and understood, and that the murderer does not become the object of sympathy as it so often happens. We too suffer the common shrift as victims of being lost in the shuffle, of being sidelined in deference to the "offender’s personal problems" or the other "more important victims." We will keep watch in your case and remind others of your sacrifice.
Rest assured Hoyt, we have got your six.. and if he heads south.. well.. we will handle it down here. Thank you Hoyt, we never met Sir, but you have my tears.
God bless your eternal soul.

To the family, colleagues and friends of Deputy Teasley, my sincere condolances on your loss. Whenever one of us pays the ultimate price in the performance of our duties, it rips a little piece out of all of our hearts. I have no doubt that Deputy Teasley served with pride, dedication and compasion. This is reflected in his final performance. Know that Deputy Teasley died as he lived, a true hero!
May God bless those he left behind, watch over them and care for them in their hour of need.
I pray for a swift capture and bringing to justice of the coward that committed this horrific act.
Rest in Peace, Deputy. We will take the watch from here.

The Thin Blue Line
There is a line
the color of the sky
on a clear afternoon
There is a line
the hue of the ocean
on a bright sunny day
There is a line
the purest shade of a newborn's eyes
awakening for the first time
There is a line
that protects us from harm
in all we do
whether day or night
There is a line
no one can penetrate
no one can alleviate
There is a line
made of those who choose
to follow a calling many do not hear
and still more do not comprehend
They choose to walk
the path of fear, hate, and mistrust
taken by so few
but marked by so many
And when one leaves this line
they leave a legacy
but the line does not break
for the remaining must still protect
There may be emptiness
a loss, or sadness
but never a hole
not in this line
This line that holds
the ghosts of the souls who have gone
and the souls of the ghosts who will be
