Reflections for Sergeant Hoyt Keith Teasley
Rest in peace, brave soul.
March 14, 2005
You are in my thoughts and prayers. My father was killed in the line of duty on 1/26/05 and I thought about your family all weekend. I want you know you are not alone in your grief. There will be good days and there will be bad days, but you can find comfort in knowing he did the right thing and there is a angel in heaven watching over you now. Find comfort in your family, friends, fellow officers and the community so that he is not forgotten, but remembered. . . for he was doing the right thing. Let him be honored.

March 14, 2005
I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the Teasley Family and the deputies and staff of the Fulton County Sheriff's Department over the tragic loss of Sgt. Hoyt Teasley. Once again a coward has taken the life of another brother officer from the thin blue line. May God bless the Teasley Family and the deputies and staff of the Fulton County Sheriff's Department during this very sad time. May our brother Hoyt rest in peace. Hoyt will now patrol the streets of Heaven with St. Michael and his angels. Never forget the fallen hero!

When I look at your picture, I know that I recognize your face. I am sure that we have said hello in passing but that we have never talked, still I recognize you as my brother. This has been a very long week in Fulton County, and you would be proud of the way all of the agencies pulled together to search for the man who did these horrible things. Even though there were thousands of agencies working together to find this man, we seemed to have a sole heartbeat. I never realized before this week just how many green Honda’s there are on the road.
I thank God for you and for your bravery, may God continue to look after your family and may God continue to protect those that are protecting all of us ( protecting us even as I type these words). I envy you in a way because I know that you have seen the face of God, and touched your Lords nail scared hands. You have also looked the Devil in the eye and you did not blink and you did not back down. I promise you that I will never forget you and that your children and grandchildren will know that you are a hero and that you were willing to die for what you knew was right. You are truly a man of honor.

The urgent calling of nature longs to be tested, seeks to be challenged beyond itself. The warrior within us beseeches Mars, the god of War, to deliver us to that crucial battlefield that will redeem us into the terrifying immediacy of the moment. We want to face our Goliath so we may be reminded that the warrior David is alive, in us. We pray to the war gods to guide us to the walls of Jerrico so we may dare the steadfastness and strength of our trumpet call. We aspire to be defeated in battle by powers so much greater than ourselves, so that the defeat itself will have made us larger than when we arrived. We long for the encounter that will ultimately empower us with dignity and honor....Be not mistaken: the longing is there and it's terrible and beautiful and tragic

To the wife of Sgt. Teasley,
May you find comfort in knowing that I am praying for you and your children. I pray that our loving Father truly holds you in the palm in His hand at this very difficult time. Your husband was taken in the line of duty. He "ran to" what others "run from." Sgt. Teasley is truly a HERO!
