Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Haven Blake Gammill
My prayers go out to the Gammill family for their loss. I hope his brothers and sisters in blue come to the aid of his family at this time when they need support. May God watch over all of you.

We were advised of the shooting by our dispatch center last night at about 10PM and told that a Douglas County Deputy had been shot adn was flown to Grady. We all felt felt chills knowing that it had to be bad, then we were told that you had actually been taken to Atlanta Medical and knew that your injuries were to the head or spine. We held hope through the remainder of the shift until we were finally told that your life had been violently stolen from us. Now we once again bear the mourning bands for the second time in two weeks and prepare for another gut wrenching funeral. We will be there for your sendoff, we will be there when your name is added to the wall in Forsyth and we will be there for your family. The thin blue line will bend and crack, but will never break. Go forth and take your place as a deputy with Saint Michael.

"Final Call"
An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.
Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

I am the wife of a police officer and I cannot imagine the pain of losing my husband and having to explain that to our children. Although it is a reality each officer, spouse and family member are aware of, it is one we choose not to face until confronted. The law enforcement community mourns and prays for Blake and his family. May God hold him close to his heart and embrace his daughters, ex-wife and fiancee' in their time of need. For the family: know that you are not alone, we pray for you and we support you. Thank you for giving your loved one so that other's can be safe. Thank you to Blake for being there for fellow officers whenever he was needed so that they could go home to their families after a shift. Thank you for being the kind of role model that children need to see and most of all, thank you for the ultimate sacrifice you and your family have given so that each of us can rest easy in our beds each night.

To the family and friends, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I went to school with Blake and he always wanted to be in law enforcement, so he died living his dream. The last time I saw Blake was at Arbor Mall around Christmas. It just seems like yesterday we were in high school. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers will be with you.

We don't serve for money...
We don't serve for adventure...
We don't serve for excitement...
We don't serve for appreciation...
And we don't serve to be heros;
but yet many will become heros.
We serve for honor, loyalty and a sense of duty to help others. With that service comes sacrifice.
Deputy Sheriff Blake Gammill may you rest in peace and with honor.
To the family , friends and co-workers may God be with you during this tragic time.

To the family of Officer Gammill,
My father in law is with the Coweta County Sheriff's Dept, and my Mother In Law is with the Newnan PD. Every time I hear of an officer down it tears at my heart knowing it could be one of them. I can't imagine what you must be going through right now, but you are in the thoughts and prayers of my family. May God be with you during this time and I hope you can gather strength from the fact that he will now be watching over you from Heaven and you will meet up with him again in a place where guns and violence don't exist.
God Bless,

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but a two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

"What a hero!" There is nothing that can said at moments like this, which will ease the pain. This is a horrible situation, to a very young dad and husband to be.
In April my husband and I will celebrate our first years wedding anniversary - You can bet that this years celebration will hold a huge meaning for us!! We will cherish our days together more because of this.
Our hearts go out to the friends, family, co-workers, his fiance', and his sweet girls! God bless you all. Pray that God will give the peace and strength that ONLY he can give...
"Go rest high on that mountain, for your work here is done... Well done my faithful servent."

Farewell for now Brother...will this carnage never end? I pray your sacrifice made above and beyond the call will serve to draw us in The Thin Blue Line who remain behind, whether active or retired, ever closer and bind us together into a knot that only Our Lord Himself can sever. Be assured your loved ones are not alone for we are but a phone call away.

Deputy Gammill is a True American Hero. He gave it all to protect other children from being hurt by this child molester. Think of the lives he probably saved by making sure that this individual was put where he belongs. Thank You Deputy Gammill from a father that has a four year old daughter. Your job is complete and you are appreciated greatly for your services. May God Bless Your Family & Co-Workers.
