Sometimes you get the bad guy and sometimes he
gets you.
The shot that killed you also killed a part of us.
It killed a part of your family, both at work and at home.
It killed your dreams, your hopes, your future.
But it must not kill our determination to make this
world a better place or our will to make a difference.
America's streets must be running red with blood with
all the deaths of leos. Every time I come here to leave
a reflection, I feel like my words get emptier and emptier. I am truly sorry for your loss...a loss too great
for words.

Well Blake, it's coming up on two years of your death. There is still not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. Since I have moved to Valdosta, I don't get to see the girls everyday. I was in Cairo over the weekend and went by to see Brande and the girls. They both ran up to me and JR (my husband) and gave us a huge hug and kiss!!! I think my husband reminds them a lot of you. Jewel Grace is looking more and more like you everyday. It breaks my heart that they don't have you physically here. You would be so proud of them. But just because you are not her physically I know that you are with all of us spiritually. Thank you for keeping all of the law enforcement safe, (especially my husband!) I know you are watching over them everyday. I miss you very much!!! Keep us all safe!!!

Hello Blake, Well it's been a while. We went to Washington D.C. back in May for the National law Enforcement Officers Memorial for you. We had a good time and seen a lot You know I never been there befor it sure was an experience. Well They gave Bilbo the max 20 years to the door, he will be about 66 yrs. old whene he gets out. I hope he never gets out alive. Any way all my boys are doing good Reed's been killing deer like crazy he sure has become a fine hunter and young man, Ethan has strted school, boy i'am telling you he is a hand full. My grandboys are all doing fine as well little (Logan Blake) will be a year old on the 24th of Feb. I am proud that my son named him after you in your honor and just to think that he was born on the one year anniversary of your death. I set around some times and just wonder how things are. The day after you died my oldest son (Blake's) daddy was hit head on by a tractor trailor, he probuly shoudn't have made it, but he told me he felt like some one or some thing was with him and protected him. I belive it was you. And then one year later he has a son born on the 24th. Well I always new there was something special about you and I still do. I just fill it in my soul that you are always watching over all of us. Well my next to oldest son has won the battle with his substance abuse and is now working every day and has his on family, and they are all doing well. As for me and Kim we are still very mush in love and just taking care of each other and all of our kids and grand kids. and I am still doing the best I can of taking care of my team and making sure they take care of each other. Of course I got all of them to help in doing that. Joann made sergeant in C.I.D. and I am so proud of her. She is a big help in keeping me on the right path. We were togeather at Washington. We still lean on each other from time to time and all ways will. I don't know what I will do when she retires. But I belive I will all ways be able to call on her if need be. Well son I've got to go. Love ya. all ways. Big E.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM HEAVEN
I still hear the songs
I still see the lights
I still feel your love
on cold wintery nights
I still share your hopes
and all of your cares
I'll even remind you to
please say your prayers
I just want to tell you
you still make me proud
you stand head and shoulders
above all the crowd
Keep trying each moment
to stay in his grace
I came here before you
to help set your place
You dont have to be
perfect all of the time
He forgives you the slip
If you continue to climb
To my family and friends
please be thankful today
Im still close beside you
In a new special way
I love you all dearly
now don't shed a tear
Cause I'm spending my
Christmas with Jesus this year

I think about you alot these days. It has gotten better but that night does not go away. I visit this site often to see the good thing's people say, some time's I get a smile, but I have not had the courage to write anything in what seems like yesterday to me, but it has been almost two years. Washington was was an eye opening time. We all had to fight our own battles those few days, but it did help. your Mom and Dad are very stronge people and that helped more than anything. I don't know if I will ever get over that night, but It does help this time of year, during both our favorite time. Sitting in a stand looking at all the good in this world. God speed my brother, we will meet again.

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one who's blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
