After so many years this is a loss I think of often. Having been the first police funeral I attended after starting to wear the badge. Pat was more than a brother in blue lost so senselessly but a friend I know from the past. Growing up with Pat playing drums in the same band as my father and brother I knew him well. Then not long after becoming an officer to learn of his death with an early morning call from my Chief who was aware of my connection to him changed who I was as an Officer. To this day everything I am exiting my police vehicle and while performing my duties around traffic I take that extra few seconds to assess the hazards then continue to reevaluate trying to not to keep an eye out for changing hazards. Pat gave his life and I do my best to honor him in his sacrifices when I put that badge on or like him preform my oath off duty in the same way he did that night. Never forget

I was just thinking about you. Man do I miss you. I miss my dad and you and you are constantly on my mind. I missed your golf outing because of some personal crap going on, but I will be there next year. I am headed back home on Labor Day and will stop by the cemetery. Take care. I will continue to raise it up to you!! Love ya.

Pat,
Your mom just stopped by my PD to drop off items for our officers and leave some info about the Run to Remember. She works so hard to keep your memory alive and to help families of other fallen officers. She is a true blessing to the Central IL police community!

Pat...you must be oozing with pride and smiling from ear to ear as you look down on your mom. Ten years to the day and going strong keeping your name, your spirit and your benevolent smile alive. You both are truly blessed. Keep things "up there" in order. See you again...but hopefully not TOO soon!!

Still think of you everyday. Miss that big smile and your laugh. Every time I do something dumb and I think no one saw, I think "I bet Pat's laughing his ass off at that one."

Thanks for looking over all of us. I know it's a big job. Love and miss you.

Thinking of you on this 9th anniversary of you being called away from duty. Your Mom is a big supporter of law enforcement families involving the loss of a son or daughter police officer. I salute her for that and also you for your ultimate sacrifice while helping others. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones.

Another IL Officer lost this past week. My heart goes out to the Kohlmeier family. So many similarities between you two. Just 30 miles difference on same highway. I miss today and always. You are forever in my heart.

After Austin's FB game, I texted him letting him know how great he played and that I was sure you would be proud. His response "I talked to him before the game". The comment brought tears to my eyes and pride in my heart - Austin is like you in some many ways.
YOU WILL BE FOREVER IN BOTH OUR HEARTS.

Pat is truly an amazing great person, If anyway possible I would like to get back in contact with his mom. I am one of the family members that he was assisting at the time of this accident. I see there are a lot of events that takes place in his honor and I would to participate in these events. So if anyone know the family and can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
