There are no words to say during these hard times but I offer my deepest sympathy to the family and friends.
It is very hard to see one of our own die in such ways. We just lost one of our brother to a gunfire battle and it's hard to hold back the tears as well as the anger.
May God bring everyone the strength to continue on. We will always remember our sister who served the community to her best.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his god.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"
Rest in Peace, we have the watch from here.
A Brother in Blue

Dear Officer Bowden:
Our son,Police Officer Nicholas Sloan, was shot and killed on 1/30/2004. Our hearts are breaking when we think of all your family had been through in the last month and now have to go through this great loss. I am sure Nick will help you out in heaven and we are willing to help your family out here on earth. I know your heart broke to leave and your family hated to leave you go. Please continue to be there for your family and give them signs so they know you are still around. God bless your family and your department.
