Reflections for Night Marshal Doyne Everett Lindsey

Rest in peace Night Marshal Lindsey. That reflection was for Metro-Dade Police Officer, William Coleman Cook, EOW May 16, 1979.

The nights are dark. The days are sunny. But, evil lurks no matter atmospheric conditions are present. As long as you were present and accounted for, Officer Cook, it was a sure signal Dade Count and its folks were in the best of hands. The humble palms of your proficient perseverance, the panorama of your patrols looking for turmoil and the trails where teracity bested tyranny. You can be sure your dignity, honor and integrity rests where it shall never be disturbed. God only takes the genes of humane heroism from His angelic heroes and heroines. They safeguard those pearly gates of heaven where humility and decency sleep soundly in the wings of wonderment. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Sincere and endearing never to be vanquished, we treasure your professional demeanor and your wisdom to learn and to solve dilemmas before they got worse.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 59th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I honor you Marshall Lindsey, and I challenge the members of your department and law enforcement community to continue to look for you murderer . . . there is an excellent possibility he's still alive.

With brotherly love and utmost respect, Jim Crotty (Former Richmond, VA Police Officer.)

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Marshall Lindsey but have had the pleasure of knowing the "children" he left behind and they are a honor to his memory. His daughter lost her battle with cancer but showed dignity and courage during her illness. His son, Jerry, is the strongest person I know - and his courage and optimism with his ongoing battle with cancer is truly a reflection of what he, too, must have inherited from his father, Marshall Lindsey.
Everyone should feel so proud of the sacrifices the fallen have done for us!
