Mitch,
Thank you for proudly serving the citizens of North Carolina, my home as a young boy. I did a mapquest search and discovered that Boiling Spring Lakes is just miles from Yaupon Beach, NC, where my family and I vacationed a few times. My uncle Herman served as an officer for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

May you rest in peace and may God bless your family and grant them His peace as well.

And if you see Bryan Hurst up there, tell him we miss him a lot down here.

Mrs. Price,

My husband was also shot and killed when he was only 36 years old. I know how horrible things must be for you right now. Rely on God and your family and friends for as long as you need to. It has been over three years for my family and although the pain does lessen, it dosen't go away. You will always have the love you and your husband shared and your children will know that their daddy died a hero and if he was like most policemen I know, (including my husband) he was doing what he loved to do. Do take some comfort in that. You have lost your most precious friend but you have gained a whole host of new friends. Your COPS friends will be there for you no matter what, trust and lean on them. Our prayers will be with you and your family.

I would like to extend my condolences to the family, friends and fellow officers of P.O. Mitch Prince. We here in Columbus, Ohio can feel your pain. I only learned of this website recently when an academy classmate of mine was shot and killed while working special duty at a local bank. His name was Bryan Hurst (EOW 01/06/2005) and he left behind a wife and a six month old daughter. Not a month before another officer, Melissa Foster, was killed by a drunk driver while responding on a non-emergency run. The driver went left of center and hit her cruiser head on. Of course, he was barely injured. Melissa was the single mother of two small children. Be comforted by the fact that Mitch was doing something he loved. Be proud of Mitch, for he is a hero and is surely in heaven watching over all of us right now.

Mitch,
Say hello to Bryan when you meet him. I'll see you at my FINAL ROLL CALL. Until then rest easy, my brother, we've got it from here.

God Bless You All.

Mitch, thanks for all the laughs and smiles you took time to share with me. I will never forget working with you. You may not have known, but I did learn from you in the short time we worked together. That night was very difficult for all of us knowing how we were going home to our families and you weren't. I guess God had plans for you. Now you are charged with watching over all of us. I thank you for your service to the uniform and the pride you took in your job. You will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace.
