Reflections for Police Officer James Mitchell Prince

My dear sweet boy

Today is your 55th Birthday. Your Dad and I spoke of your this morning and how much you are missed. I find myself every day thinking of you and missing you so much. Oh how I wish we had, had more time together. But wonderful news, we will oneday. we are now back in Fayetteville, NC, where I said I would never come. The Lord had other plans. Your Dad was diagnoised with 3 types of cancer. We probably would have never known had we not come to Fayetteville. Well guess what, God took care of all three. We have been blessed so much and your prayers he listened to. Our God is so wonderful. This world is really messed up. So much I want to tell you but most of all we want you to know you will never be forgotten. Oh yes , Mitch your grand child is Miss Arianna Faith Prince, she is the image of Kyle. She is beautiful. We kept her as a baby and we have had her for two weeks this month. She goes to Highest Praise Christian Academy. She is 7 yrs old and BEAUTIFUL. She is a PAPAS girl and would have been yours to. Say hello to your brother and always know we love you both very much.

Happy Birthday and just know we will see you when God calls us home.
All of our love to you and Larry Wayne.

Always in our hearts. 18 years today. We cannot wait to see you. Our God has been so good to us. You are still talked about and we are flying our flag in remembrance of all who gave there life. We have church members who have passed over the bridge and saw your name. They stop to pay tribute to you and just walk over the bridge. Love you as always and we will see you one day. Richard always remembers this day. Forever in our

Mitch my ❤️ heart
It has been 17 years since God called you home. Your Dad and I still talk and think and remember and keep our memories of you and everything you done and we're. December and January are not so good for us sometimes. We find ourselves lonesome for you and Larry Wayne. LW passed on December 2 2021. He had finally met the love of his life. She is amazing and my best friend. You boys are still the loves of my life. I am so happy that your Dad and I will see you both when God has used us all he can. Your Dad loves our Lord with a love that you cannot imagine. Only if our world would turn to Our loving Father. So much to tell you guys but it will have to wait. Meet us at the gate, both of you. Oh how wonderful to look upon the face that has kept us safe and forgiven us, even when we did not deserve it. Much Much love to my boys.

As the date nears that you were lost, the thought still crosses my mind of the cold January night. I remember that night as I was going to sleep, hearing your voice on the police scanner, and you stating that you were going 10-61 with a vehicle. A few hours later when I woke to get ready for work,I heard the horrible news of what had happen. Sadly, I had to drive right pass the scene of the crime on my way into work. You will never be forgotten. Thank you for all that you did. May you continue to watch over your brothers and sisters in blue. RIP Sir.

Mitch it's hard to believe the Lord took you up with Him over 10 years ago. I remember being at my in-laws house when I heard the news. I know you were excited to work in BSL full time. I finally went to BLET and have gotten sworn in with Shallotte. Still working at the nuclear plant of course. Can't quit that money. I know you're up there watching over us, one day we'll see each other again. See you soon brother!

Mitchell Prince,
I never had the honor of meeting you, but I think about you often. I hear stories about you from your mama and daddy. You would be proud of your son Kyle today, he's an AMAZING man who has stolen my heart. We're hoping to be married soon, and will honor you at the wedding. I wish I would have been able to meet the father who raised the man of my dreams but I know we will meet some day. Your family has welcomed me into their hearts with open arms and I couldn't be more thankful. Please watch over Kyle and I as we go through life, and I promise to always keep you and your memory alive in our home. We've decided that our first born son will carry on your name. James Mitchell Prince II. We will always think of you and promise to make you proud.

With much love,
Anna

Mitch on january 16th, you were truly honored by many. Rick Spencer, Chief Brad Shirley, Pastor Sherwood, Mary Stillwell, your friend who loves you so much, and is now starting a Mitch Prince Schlorship fund, to help further educations for police officers. Also Ron Matthews was there and spoke about Cops. Tim Pittman, Tracey Wheeler, Lisa Grainger, Joanne Bowden and so many more of all enforcement. They showed pictures of you, Tim, Lisa, and I we cried and laughed. You were always so full of fun. Everyone still remembers you and still talks about you, I cannot believe it has been 10 yrs. LW is doing fine. Must close but will see you as soon as the Lord allows. Always your Mom. Talk to you later. I have to finish your scrap book. Oh yes Richard White was there also.

Mitch . . . I though of you today. For some reason couldn't get that goofy teenager at Ducky T's out of my mind. I did a search on you and found this page that still lets thoughts be shared. YOU were such a special person. Loved by so many. I am sure still missed with every day. I just wanted your loved ones to know that you were still crossing the mind of someone that never knew you as an adult, but will forever keep that image of you as my pesky sidekick during a summer at Long Beach. I wish so much that you could run next door and get me a chocloate shake from the grill . . . I thought about you today. And I thought about the man you became.

Mitch, you don't know how much you are missed. You taught me more than i could have ever taught you. and I remember the things we talked about, and now try to share those things with my officers that I lead now. I may not do everything the "right" way, but I do remember what kind of man you are and how you carried yourself. There is not a day that goes by, that I don't think of you and the things we did. Every year I go to the memorial and take a rubbung of your name from the wall, and wish things could be different. I miss you brother.

Mitch,
I may not have known you personally, but I wanted you to know that your memory and commitment live on. Today, not unlike every other, my husband carries you with him, as I know you carry him. You weren't just his brother in blue, you are his brother in heart. Thank you Mitch, for everything you continue to do. You are forever in our hearts and prayers.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the seventh anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, and your memory will always be honoed and revered.. I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Mitch and I went to school together and I should have been working that night. Instead, Officer Mike Szendrey was working in my place, acting as shift supervisor because I had not been released from my doctor to return to work after having shoulder surgery! The day Mitch was killed, my doc had told me that i could return to work the following Monday, I begged him to let me return to work that night but he just would not do it. Mike (working in my place) was the first officer to Mitch. As to what was or was not done by Officer Szendrey I can not say, I was not there however, if what has been said happened, I can honestly say that there would not have been a secondary chase and shootout with the suspect, he would have never left the scenes walking or driving! Mitch was a great guy, he loved to cook and he loved his family This was a very tragic event that changed my life. I rank it up there with the killing of office Dee Jones on Bald Head Island, her case was change to a ruling of homicide by a federal judge, i will never believe she killed herself!
