Reflections for Patrolman Scott Morgan Armstrong
SCOTT,
My heart breaks for your family and your fiancee and her family. I can imagine what they are going through. Every day I think about all the officers who have given their lives doing what they loved doing. It takes a very special man to be a police officer. If ever I can help your family I would love to. Please continue to watch over them and send them signs to know you are with them. God bless and watch over them.

As I look at the sacrafices we make daily I often reflect on John 15:13
"Greater love has no man than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends."
Scott made the ultimate sacrafice. As we that are left behind button our shirts, lace our shoes or boots and begin our tour of duty, we never know if the shift we begin will be completed. Scott you never finished your shift and now you patrol the heavens watching us all.

I got them all motivated and even snagged the first one. ;-) It felt good.Hope we made you proud and please watch over us and keep us safe. You were a good guy. Scott, You will be truly missed. You were an excellent police officer and a good friend. I still can't believe this. It was such a senseless act. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, especially Tyler. He had a wonderful Dad. I'm sure NO ONE will ever let him forget that.
Rest in Peace Scott. I will never forget you!!!

Scott was an energetic officer dedicated to serving the public. I am greatly saddened by his premature death. As someone who was dedicated to getting drunk driver's off the road, I can only hope the messge of a preventable tragedy like this is heard throughout our nation.

I just wanted to say that your law enforcement family is here to help in any way you need. Your son, fiancée, and daddy was a great man who died doing what he truly loved. As a member of that law enforcement family it saddens me to know that he died at the hands of another officer who had been out drinking with his buddies. What a sad lesson for us all to learn. I hope this teaches other officers that just because we are the law doesn't mean we are above it. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family at this time and we will forever remember Scott and be there for his child so that he may know what a true hero his father was. Take care and God bless you.

Officer Armstrong
Please watch over your son and family, they will need you now more than ever. Hopefully they will find some comfort in knowing you died doing a job that you loved and we all thank you for a job well done. Please watch over your brother-in-law and all your fellow officers - they can all use a back up.

As the Administrator of the Breath Alcohol Instrument Training and DWI program, I had the privilege of knowing Scott. He was one of the "best of the best". He truly did not deserve to die this way.
Anyone reading about this tragedy should know the whole truth. Officer Bastean (the driver going the wrong way) had a blood alcohol of 0.180 when he smashed into Officer Armstrong. Perhaps this will send a wake up call to any officers who fail to take DWI seriously.
