Reflections for Patrolman Scott Morgan Armstrong

Scott -

Seems like it was only yesterday I was a bridgeton explorer and you were giving us one of our Monday classes about arrest techniques. I remember I said at your memorial dedication I wanted to take the word Corrections off and change it to Police. Well I finally did it and I start on Thursday. You would be proud of all of us Scott, Joe is a Police Officer in Jennings, Angie started academy in St. Louis City, and now its my turn. Thanks for all the influence you gave to me and the rest of us, and the first DWI arrest I get is gonna be yours. Keep looking over all of us, as you and Neal would say, every officer needs an extra pair of eyes.

P.O. Armstrong,

Seems like only yesterday seeing the news coverage of the accident. I couldnt believe what I saw, yet another Missouri officer parished in the line for no reason. RIP and may my prayers and best wishes be with you, your family and all police agencies.

To Patrolman Scott Armstrong and his loved ones:

On this the fourteenth month after your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.
I hope to meet you all in D.C.
To his parents, I share your agony of having lost a child in the line of duty.
I know that it feels like a big chunk of your heart is missing. When I read some of the recent reflections about Scott, I cried for him, for my Larry, and for all of us. Scott was so well-loved and that is eternal.

Scott, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Scott.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Scott gave to his community and the citizens of Missouri, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 12, 2005.

Scott,
I heard the song I Wanna Be Rich on the radio today and thought of you. I remember some girl (one of many you dated) liked that song and when you two broke up all you talked about is how much you hated that song. Ah the good ol days when that was all we had to worry about. Miss Ya!

IF ONLY….

IF ONLY YOU KNEW WHEN I HEAR OF A BURNING HOUSE HOW FEAR RUNS THROUGH
MY BODY, HOPING, PRAYING EVERYONE WILL BE SAFE.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW WHENEVER I HEAR A SIREN, I PRAY. I PRAY FOR YOUR SAFETY AND
FOR THE SAFETY OF THE FAMILY YOU’RE GOING TO HELP.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW WHEN YOU HAVE TO TELL A FAMILY A LOVED ONE HAS DIED, MY
HEART IS SAD FOR THE FAMILY AND FOR YOU.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW WHEN I HEAR A SIREN I WILL BE THE DRIVER PULLING OVER FOR YOU.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW I THEN MAKE THE SIGN OF THE CROSS, PRAY AND HOPE EVERYONE WILL
PULL OVER TOO.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW WHEN YOU WALK IN TO A ROOM, IN YOUR UNIFORM, MY HEART SWELLS
WITH PRIDE AND I THINK OF THE LIVES YOU’VE TOUCHED THAT DAY
AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE YOU’VE MADE.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW WHEN YOU TELL ME STORIES ABOUT HOW YOUR DAY HAS GONE.
HOW YOUR TRIED TO SAVE A LIFE AND YOU DID THE BEST YOU COULD…
AS YOU ALWAYS DO.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW I CRIED WITH YOU.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW HOW I’M SHOCKED AND SADDENED WHEN I HEAR HOW DISRESPECTFUL
PEOPLE ARE TO YOU AND TO THE OTHERS WHO SERVE AND PROTECT
THEM TOO.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW HOW MUCH I RESPECT YOU AND OTHERS FOR THE JOB YOU AND THEY
DO.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW EVERYDAY I PRAY TO GOD TO SEND HIS ANGELS TO WATCH OVER YOU.
IF ONLY YOU KNEW I WORRY WHEN YOU GO ON A CALL, PERHAPS A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE,
NO TELLING WHAT YOU’RE WALKING IN TO.
****DEAR GOD KEEP THEM SAFE!****
IF ONLY YOU KNEW HOW BRAVE I THINK YOU ARE BUT SOMEHOW I THINK YOU DO.

Hi Scott - Sorry I haven't written in awhile. I always try but am at a loss for words. I still think about you everyday! I am going to Westport tomorrow night for Robyn's bachelorette party (yes, she is actually doing it this time believe it or not) and it will be the 1st time I have been there since we were there. I will have to walk by the fountain and laugh! Thank god you were there to keep me out of trouble (you always kept me in line, didn't you)! Maybe I will have to take a dip in it again for old times sake! Hee hee. Just kidding, I don't think I have that in me anymore. Love you and miss you.

Bro;

I know you are sitting up there laughing your butt off at me and our soon to be little girl. Hey, I like the name Morgan better anyway!!! I don't know how much things are gonna change yet, but come June, life as we know it will change again. Often times since we got pregnant I thought of how you and I could be sitting at TK's or Hot Shots having a beer or two, waiting for the call from April and Karen telling us the baby was born! I know she would never let me do that, but you and I could sure try! I know the late night parties around here will be different with a crying baby around, but they will still happen.

I still cannot believe it has been over a year since you were murdered by the drunk driver. Not a day goes by that I don's laugh over something you said, did, or implied while you were still with us. I try to deal with you being gone by looking back at all the good times we had. Whether it was the Horny Toad, or our deck, you were always willing to make everyone smile.

Before I get too gushy, I am going to let well enough be said.

As always, may god bless those of us who protect.

We love you and will never forget you!!

Scott,

Matt and I always wondered what our kids would call you and what they would call his brother since you both share the same name. Well we decided to keep it simple and you guys would be Uncle Scott A and Uncle Scott B. Well Uncle Scott A, you are going to have a niece. We just found out this afternoon and I wanted to be the first to tell you. Morgan Rose (name after you, my favorite brother)is doing great. She will be here before we know it.

I Love You DORK!!!

I can't believe it has been a year now. Tommy was 9 months old on the day you were taken from us. and now he is 21 months old. I thought a lot about you yesterday. I miss your smile and the way your eyes sparkled when laughed. I miss all your smart-ass comments.

Please watch over your family, including the soon to be born newest member of April and Matt's.

I'll never forget. None of us will.

Scott -

Wish I could be there for your Mom and Dad today. I am out of town training and wish I could help them through the day - they truly are amazing people.

Nick's sister, Kelly, said it is best when she asked for you to watch over them. Please do.

I know the Sloan's have been there for them a lot this year and they too are awesome people.

See you on the other side.

Bro;

We put a wreath on the highway today in your honor from Bridgeton PD. It has been a hard day on your mom, but your dad is holding strong as alawys. As much as everyone wants to move on, it is so hard to do without you here, and thinking of the tragic events that led to your death.

It is ironic on the news within the lat month to see an Alton officer who is fighting for his life after being hit head on by a drunk driver. His car looked just as bad as yours did on the night of the accident. Please help him through his recovery.

Continue to watch over us, god knows some of us need it a little more than others. Baby M will be here before you know it! April cant wait to name our child after you, and I am really excited(hopefully it will be a boy).

Keep your mom and dad close to you as they deal with the aniversary of the day their world came crashing down.

As always, may god bless those of us who protect.

Well, highway 370 has been named after you now. It will always be tough on our emotions to drive though that area. I miss you so much. I still remember vividly the last time I talked to you. Hope you and my dad are keeping each other company. I will never forget you and the memories you gave us.

This is the 1st time I have done this, so we'll see how it goes.

It's been a year today, since you were called away. Just wanted to let you know that Tyler is doing well. He askes about you all of the time. He wants me to tell him stories about you, so I do. I alway tell him about the funny times and the things you did with him and how much you loved him.

Just wanted to let you know we think about you every day and miss you very much. I promise you that I will take my very best care of your son and make sure he never forgets you and that you are his Dad.

dear scott,

i can't believe a year has gone by without you. i miss you sarcasm and the silly names you used to call me. i know you look down on all of us and laugh and probably pray a lot. please keep matt browning in your prayers/thoughts as the sentencing date nears. god left him here for a reason, but i still try to accept why he decided to take you. you have an amazingly strong family, but they will always need you near to watch over them. take care of all those we love in heaven.
