Brother Schroeder,
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Respectfully,
You’re Brothers in Blue

Today is your Birthday
And you are not here
I know you are around me
I feel you near
Though months have passed
You are missed so much
Your laughter, your smile
The face I loved to touch
I have been told many times
That God had plans for you
But I wish he would have waited
As we had plans too.
I know you are in a better place
Beautiful and peaceful I am told
One thing I will always have
Are the memories I hold
Today is your Birthday
Even though you aren't here
I will always miss you and love you
Happy Birthday, my dear.

To the friends and family of Deputy
Skip Schroeder and his fellow officers at the York County Sheriff's Department:
On behalf of our entire family, we extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered with the death of Deputy Schroeder. His valor will not be forgotten.
Skip also proudly served his country as a Marine. My son Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg, CA Police Department went into law enforcement after serving as a tank commander in the Corps. Larry and Skip were brothers in green as well as brothers in blue We lost our beloved Larry after he was fatally shot during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for Deputy Schroeder's service to his country and then to his community and the citizens of York County, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 10, 2005.

To the family ,friends and sheriff dept family of Deputy sheriff Edward, I am the wife of a fallen Officer too. I want to send my respects to all of you. Howard was killed a day before you lost your beloved Edward. I know that even though these two great Heros may not have known each other here, I'm sure they know each other in Heaven. I know they stood in the same thin Blue Line. I know that the cost can be great and can even break one's heart...You will not be forgotten! Our prayers are with all of you...always wife of SGT. I want to thank everyone that took the time to leave a reflection for Skip. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother and friend. He is missed everyday but it makes us feel better knowing how much everyone cares and has taken the time to write something on this wonderful site for all fallen officers. What a great way to honor these heroes. Thank you again for remembering him as we always will.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Deputy Schroeder's family. May you find some comfort in turning to those who are there for you to listen, hold, share - this is not an easy time. I am sure Skip did a fine job here on earth and now God has given him a new job in heaven - he will do his best there too. Officers like Skip trained my son (and many others) to become fine officers - he is with many of them now.

Skip, well even though you are no longer with us, you will never be forgotten. And to those whom read this, let me give you a little back ground on Skip as a fellow employee. In each and every organization you have one guy that is always in a good modd, never has a bad word to say, willing to always stay late and get the job done. This is Skip, he was always the guy you could ask for help, and would never turn you down, he was always willing to go the extra mile, I wish we had more Skips all over the U.S. In closing Skip, like the poem says "you've done your time in hell, Now walk a beat in Heaven". Rest in Peace and you will never be forgotten.
