Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Howard King Stevenson

Wow, I haven't been on here on quite some time, and reading all of the reflections, I regret being gone. Your page is one I used to come to on a daily basis, every night I got off work. Reading all of the wonderful comments have really touched me again as they always do. You know that you will never be forgotten. Recently there have been so many television shows in Honor of yourself, and the documentation of that horrific night. It has made me think of you so much and have dreams of being back there again that night. I just wanted to get on here to say hello. We are getting ready to go to Mt. Madness in a few weeks. You will definately be missed, especially by me since you won't be there to save me like before! haha... We will definately pay your plaque a visit!!!

Howie,
You may not remember me because I think we only met once, but I just wanted to tell you the great impact you have made on me and many other people in the community. just yesterday I helped clean up the fire engine that the city is giving to Rachel, it made me feel good inside to know that even after you're gone you are still helping people. I am in the process of joining the ceres police explorers. I hope that someday I will become an officer as good as you were. Until then I will keep pressing forward in the pursuit of my dream and be the best friend i can be to Bryce and Mick. Thanks for being the great man that you were.

And now even Rachel will benefit from their efforts. I am grateful to see this place, which was significant, entertaining, and very enjoyable in your life. What an honor to be part this family. I love you so much.

I know you were a great ball player in your day. Summer has started out with a bang. Bryce took off for Walla Walla Wa. to see Kim and Gary"s place. He is thinking about working for them in the fall. His friends and him are on a road trip even though gas $$$, they are using Micky's car, what a nice sister don't you think! Anyway I know they will have fun!! My mom is staying with me for a few days so we will be busy as well. Everyone misses you so much! We are pushing forward of course because you would do the same. Hi my sweetheart,
thinking of you every second of everyday and missing you greatly!!! This has been a busy month, with peace officer week and all. We all went to the Sacramento Memorial as well as the Lakewood memorial. The graduating class of 2008 from the police academy did a wonderful" pride run" down to your wildlife grove. I have no doubt you were watching from above. It was the most honoring and humbling tribute and we will never forget it!!! We are keeping all in our prayers of course. Asking for each to be safe and always come home to their families after their shift is over. Whenever we see an officer drive by or on the side of the road with someone they pulled over, we ask God Above to bless them and bring them home safe! We NEVER want anyone to go through what we have. You did a great job preparing us for the dangers you faced and we are forever thankful for that, however we still miss you with each passing second and that will never go away until we meet again in Heaven! With more love than words can say Love you Soul Mate xo

Sgt. Stevenson, just wanted to thank you for your service. My father was a Deputy for LASD and passed away only 15 days after you. I am currently in the academy and we learned about what happened with the shooting a couple days ago. One of the bravest things I have ever heard. You were a true officer of the law. Im sure you and my dad are buddies now up above. God bless you and your family. Thank you for your honor.

Hi sweetheart,
well it is just me again, I know you do not mind because you had to talk to me daily when you were here on Earth, you did not seem to mind, if I remember.
I truly miss you on a daily basis. Anyway, Just wanted to let you know about the Fire Engine that is being donated by the city of Ceres to the city of Rachel, Nevada. I know that you have been Honored in so may ways and again you are remembered because of you and your friends and your connection to a small town in Nevada. This town was a place that you and the guys went to on a yearly visit. The guys still go every year and even made a memorial for you on a hill top. You made some wonderful friends there, as I am sure so many others have.(good people there). The City of Ceres is donating a older fire engine to the people of Rachel. They had no working engine to put out fires and they were truly were in need! Ron, our living angel, helped get the word out and everyone in our Ceres family came on board. So again, we are blessed to be apart of all that has come from your sacrifice...Pray for a safe trip for all of us. Some of our wonderful fire guys are going to drive the engine down there with us. I know you will be with us in spirit and that is truly a comfort! love you more everyday and can not wait to be with you and our Lord. Forever Soul Mate xoxxoxo

Hi Sweetheart,
well it is Sunday afternoon and as usual you are in my thoughts! I was thinking about the many lazy Sundays we spent together. It is sunny out and a breeze is blowing through our windows. I can almost see you smiling and saying lets take a drive and do some geocashing. Remember when we went to Oakdale, down by the river and walked with the kids through the shallow water to find the cash. That was one of many I remember. Bryce has been talking about doing some geocashing this spring. I know you will be there with us in spirit. Micky is down in Merced with Elise this weekend. I know she is having a great time. I am getting ready to take a walk with Linda so I will talk to you soon. Can't wait until we are together again!
Love you always and forever Soul Mate

Hi babe, can't sleep so thought I would leave you a note. If I could write the words for how much I miss you, I would...You are never ever away from my thoughts! There are so many things that I could use your guidance on; I know you are in heaven and do not have to worry about Earthly things. That makes me happy, and yet leaves me without my wonderful, smart partner! Life without you is like life without air...don't get me wrong I am not whining! I am just missing you as always! I have learned to turn to our Lord for everything that I might have turned to you about. I ask Him to walk with me throughout each day. I ask Him to show me where He wants me to be, and pray that I hear Him. I am back to work and pray I can make a difference in others lives. Time has just passed by and I am not sure if I have made any good decisions since you have been gone. I am trying though...so I'm bound to get something right after all these tries! Micky is back in softball and is as happy as I am. Bryce of course is working and going to school. He comes and visits us often. The CPOA is Saturday and your family are coming down to hang out with everyone. We are looking forward and know we will enjoy seeing all the Public Safety Family. Always a good time! We know you will be watching over all and laughing because you will not have a hand over!!! Love you with every fiber of my being Soul Mate xoxoxo

Hi Sweetheart,
well it is Easter today and just like every other day we miss you too much!!!
Micky , Elise and I spent yesterday with Carmen and your Mom and Dad. We had a great time. Micky and Elise took a plane to Walla Walla Wa. to spend their spring break with Kim and David. I know they will have so much fun. Bryce and I hung out together for a bit. I think I am just a little boring for our 20 something
son. I enjoyed our time though. He is doing great and I know you are as proud of him as I am! I remember being his age, so I understand how important it is to be around your friends. Anyway I am happy for him. I have a to-do list for this week so I plan on staying busy. I made an extra long one so help me keep on task! I miss you so much...someday we will be together again! Love you more than words can say Soul Mate xo Happy Easter Our Lord Lives!!! Amen

Hi my sweetheart,
can't say how much you are missed, everyday I manage to get through is one I am proud of. When you were here with us, the time just flew by. We never really understood what it might be like if you no longer were here on this Earth. We certainly do now. Though I know we are still making you proud, I know you understand our great sadness. Time has not changed our feelings of loss, though it has given us the realization that we can stand tall as a family and enjoy life to the fullest.
Bryce and Micky are keeping busy. Bryce has started a new chapter in his life. He moved out of our home about a week ago. He is rooming with some nice young men. I know he will do GREAT out on his own. He is still keeping up with his full time school and is planning to transfer to a UC in 2yrs or less. Micky is starting Softball again. I know she is happy when she is playing softball!! She also made Honor Roll and is looking forward to summer. Who could blame her! I am still studying for my RRT and plan to be back at work by May or June. Pray that I fine a job that will give me time to see all Micky's games this summer. I!! I love to travel with her and the team. Keep watching over us all. Love you Soul Mate

Sir,

I just wanted to let yo know that I have finally made Captian in the explorers post. Im pretty happy and excited with the direction myself and Sgt. Berber are going to take the post. Im going to be take the Police Academey entrance test this coming saturday, im a little worried about the 500 yard run, but ive pushed my self when I practiced it and I barley made it, so I'll just have to push a little bit harder. The obstacle course is really easy, and the written test, im a little worried about too, but I think I can pass it. Im hopeing that after completion of the academey I will get picked up at Ceres, but only time will tell.

Bryce moved out with Drew, which im sure you've noticed, I tried to talk Bryce into letting me room with him, but he wouldnt budge. Haha oh well i'll move out of my parents house eventually.

Just thinking of you. We went to the grove this afternoon. It is such a tranquil place. It still does't seem possible that it's been three years. So much has happened, yet it hasn't happened. I know you know how amazing Kathy and the kids are. They are an inspiration to us every day!
