Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Howard King Stevenson

I Love you! Your birthday is bittersweet for our parents, but I have come to the point where I am just so grateful to have had you for my brother, and try to let the other stuff go. Our bond remains forever intact. Each day I give thanks for this. Thinking of you on your birthday, but that is no different from any other day, where you occupy space in my mind, my thoughts, and always in my heart. I love you so much. Cheers, Howard.

Hi My Valentine,
missing you of course, I love you and am looking forward to the day as always!!! The kids gave me a beautiful vase of roses and a sweet balloon that said Happy Valentine' Day. They are so wonderful, truly cause, really they have their own Valentine's these days. I had a little something for them as well. I found these perfect French memo boards and found frames to match, so I put a photo of them with their sweethearts. They really like them. Of course, I put just a bit of candy to top it off!! I went to church with my mom this morning and that was great. She is not feeling her best though, but she did not want to miss Pastor Hill's preaching. I gave Carmen a call when I went out to Lakewood, she is my Valentine too!!! Your place looks pretty and you have a big balloon with your flowers. The kids and I are going back to my Mom's to eat some pizza with her later. I hope after resting a bit she will be able to enjoy the kids visiting. I have been saying prayers
We sure do miss you and Love you more than any words could convey Soul Mate xoxoxo

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

Kathy,
Your daily struggle reminds me that I absolutely have to go home at the end of every shift. I pray for you.

Hi my love,
I know I have been writing you quite often but that is just how it goes this time of year:) We were together for "The 5th Anniversary" yesterday with our CPD family and today for the actual date (all the same to us) with each other. I know you get this...5 years???? That is what most of us feel, at least those that we have talked to the last few days. I know you are missed as much today as the day you were taken from all of us!!! We did get to see Sam and Linda for the luncheon on Friday and that was a WONDERFUL treat. They are looking great and staying productive and enjoying their family, like us:) They got to meet my mom for the first time and that was wonderful because it is always nice to put a face to someone that is talked about so much. I am a bit tired as I am sure the kids, Carmen and your parents are too. This time of year seems to be more draining than other times, as anyone would expect,so I am just keeping this short tonight...we love you so very much and happily will be with you before you know it...xoxoxo
Oh sorry meant to tell you that when we were out at Lakewood we ran into Dan, Joyce and Marcus....WOW can't say how nice it was for us to HUG them and catch up for a few minutes. They really do miss you too! You would be proud of Mark, he is a handsome and sweet young man that is wanting to have a career in law enforcement. I could not grasped how he has grown up this quickly???? His sister was working, I think? but Dan and Joyce said she is missing you too of course. They are a lot like Bryce and Micky...brought up with a lot of love and direction. (good people) and gosh do we need more of that in this tough world. Keeping all to prayer!!!
Love you Soul Mate xoxoxo

Happy New Year Sweetheart,
Carmen and I had a very nice New Year's Eve with Kimmy, Ron and the kids, they had there friends over and they played some games while we just hung out and listen to some oldies as well as 70's 80's music until mid night. Never the same as when you were here of course....but we made it through with the help of great friends and family. Our last New Year's Eve with you was so great! Ringing in 2005, toasting to a GREAT year because we were all together! Your Dad, Mom and Carmen were all able to come celebrate with us that year. I remember it like it was yesterday...who new what we would be asked to face just 8 short days later? And of course we will be together again on the 9th to remember you and hang out with our CPD family, catching up with everyone that we love and that love you. Watch over all of us and pray that God will keep all safe, always bringing them back home each night to their brave families that support them and love them. LOVE YOU MISS YOU SOUL MATE xoxoxo

Howard, I love you and miss you so much!
I read this from the Bible today and it really spoke to me, reminding me why the Truth of God is so comforting! Colossians 1:19-20 (MSG) Paul an Apostle of Christ Jesus wrote [ SO SPACIOUS IS CHRIST, SO ROOMY, THAT EVERYTHING OF GOD FINDS ITS PROPER PLACE IN HIM WITHOUT CROWDING. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT ALL THE BROKEN AND DISLOCATED PIECES OF THE UNIVERSE-PEOPLE AND THINGS, ANIMALS AND ATOMS-GET PROPERLY FIXED AND FIT TOGETHER IN VIBRANT HARMONIES.]
I stopped for awhile and reflected on what God and His promise in those verses meant to me; and concluded once again that from no one else nor anywhere else in this world or any other can I receive such perfect comfort! The comfort that allows me to know you are happy, healthy and very much alive with Christ Jesus and that I will see you again in Heaven, where my Lord and Savior, is preparing a place for me also.
My prayers are that all those I love and know can receive the same comfort that I am so blessed to have.
Until the day we are together again Soul Mate all my xoxoxo
ps. Your Dad, Mom and Carmen, as well as, our beautiful children, Bryce and Micky are all loving and missing you too!!! I know you are so very proud of all of us that are left behind for now...LOVE YOU

kathy your loving wife forever!

Merry Christmas my love,
well, of course we had a wonderful Christmas Day with family. My Mom stayed the night on Christmas Eve so Bryce, Micky and I had her here for Christmas Morning! We opened our presents and then we all loaded up and spent the rest of Christmas Day at Jeff and Krisy's new home! Of course, Jeff had to work, no surprise because bad guys always need to be watched, even after they are in prison! We did get a chance to wish him a very Merry Christmas by phone. Chase is so handsome and reminds all of us of Bryce when he was a little baby. Kim, Elise and David were able to come and of course Gray was working as well:( So we pressed on and played our favorite game"Apples to Apples". Sovauhna and David came home and played with us until we had to leave, so we were happy!! When Grandma was settled back home I got a chance to Skype your Dad, Mom and Carmen!!! They were having a wonderful restful Christmas as well. They are going hunting in the AM so we kept it kind of short. They were so sweet and opened their presents while Skyping so I could see what they got!!! LOVE them so much!!! Wish we could Skype you while you are in Heaven...that would make it a bit easier to have you gone so faraway...I know you got to celebrate Jesus' Birthday with Him and I do know you are safe and Happy... We will see you soon Love you Soul Mate and always missing you xoxoxo

Howie, I heard about the ambush of 4 WA officers yesterday. I had to look at the article today and it brought me to this site. It is so senseless and breaks my heart that such cruel people are out there. I know you are with them in heaven and you guys are good. I still miss you like crazy though. I don't leave messages often but we always think about you. You will Never be forgotten and always be loved and missed.

Thinking of you and had to leave a message...another 4 officers lost. Take care of them,Howie. Ryan loved his ride with Pat (Kathy set up the ride ) and it has reenforced his desire for a career as a police officer. I am very proud of him. I know you are watching over Kath and family because they are doing so well. Not always easy but you helped to raise two great kids!

Sgt Stevenson, Sir reading your bio I see how you were a true HERO! You were engaging a perp. who had just shot a fellow officer and trying to neutralize the threat. Thank you for your service to your community, GOD and your Family. Never gets easy reading about men and women, like you who give so much so others may be safe from evil. You truly are a HERO in this life and now in Heaven looking over the safety of other LEO's and your Family. May GOD always Bless and Protect your Family! GOD SPEED, SIR!!!!
