Reflections for Police Officer Bryan Scott Hurst
The cops here in Washington heard about Bryan's tragic death because we heard the coward had fled Ohio and came to our town to be with his girlfriend. You should know that all of us--all our officers--searched feverishly for the coward. Knowing nothing about Bryan, all we knew is he shot one of our own, and nothing else mattered. Now that the coward is caught he will have his justice, and Bryan will have his peace, and the rest of us can take the time now to learn more about Bryan's life and service.
The police family extends around the globe. That's why the cowards have nowhere to run to. And that's why you'll have the support of our family--your family--no matter where you are.

Bryan. Without question, you fought the warrior's battle. You will forever stand as an example of "to serve and protect", staples of the profession we have chosen. I can still hear you at roll call: "Good lookin' out." Brother, that is exactly what you did in service, and in life.
We will carry you and your family forward in your honor. Taps will sound, but you will never be forgotten. You will never walk alone.

How sad it is to hear of another brother so violently taken away in the blink of an eye. It is an unspeakable injustice that one man providing for his family met such an untimely end. We shed our tears for Officer Hurst, and mourn for his wife and baby. Please rest assured that all of his fellow officers-including those he may have never known- are mourning with you and will give our support the best way we can. We will honor his memory and continue on in our profession bravely, with Officer Hurst in our hearts.

I am honored by the sacrifice of our brother. He gave his life serving something greater than himself. As do all of us who serve. There is no greater honor than that sacrifice. You go with God Officer Hurst, go rest high on that mountain your work on earth is done. I will pray for your Wife and child, and for your family. I will make this promise to you, I will not hide from my duties, I will motivate my Officers, I will train my Officers, we will not forget your sacrifice and WE WILL HOLD THE LINE. God Bless you Bryan.

My deepest sympathy to the Hurst family. My only hope is that Bryan's Department and friends stay close and help his family in this time of need. I lost my son who left 4 children behind, the youngest was also 6 months old. It is very hard, but the Blue Family will help keep her Daddy's memory alive just as they will Bryan's. God help you through this very hard and difficult time.

It is unbelievable the unfortunate events that have plagued our city. I hardly can stand the thought of going to another memorial service, where a soldier, a hero, a new father's life was cut short so untimely.
I wonder why these events happen, for what reason does life cheat us by taking loved ones away from us so swiftly and with no fault of their own.
I only pray that God has the answer for me in his infinite wisdom.
Bryan, you know how hard this job is at times. I respect your dedication, motivation and perserverance. I will never forget these events throughout my life.
I pray that you and Melissa will watch out for your fellow brothers and sisters in blue down here. Lead us in the right direction and help us keep our spirits high in such tragic times.
We will miss you, but you will never be forgotten. Your family will always be taken care of.
God Bless you and your family. My BROTHER IN BLUE.

Having survived the senseless death of our associate pastor and Oklahoma Highway Patrolman, Nik Green, our church family has seen first hand how God has turned trajedy into triumph. My words will never replace Officer Hurst but in the past year that Nik has been gone, I made the effort to concentrate on what has not been taken from me. It has not been easy but the Lord has shown all of us that we will be blessed as we mourn (Matt ch.5 v.4). This will be our church prayer, that your loss will be comforted in such a magnificent and glorious way, there will be no question as to Who took your pain away. Our prayers go out to you and your extended family. Thank you Mr. Hurst for your attention to our life.
