Reflections for Master Police Officer Peter J. Lavery
Scholars say that in the end of times.
A great war between good and evil will ensue.
That is why the Almighty God.
Takes the bravest of our brothers and sisters in blue.
May God hold MPO P. Lavery and his family in the palm of his hand, close to his heart.

To the Newington Police Department and all those who fought to save Officer Lavery's life. Keep on fighting for him by going to work every day and keeping your head up. You fought bravely for him and he knows that. Don't second guess yourselves, he wouldn't want that. Keep up the good fight.
To the family and friends of Officer Lavery, my heartfelt condolences are with you during this time of great pain. Hopefully all your happy memories will someday replace your terrible grief.

Police Officers - All gave some, some gave all. We will carry-on without you Officer Lavery, stronger because of your influence in our lives. I will not mourn your death. Instead I will celebrate the life that you lived, be thankful for your sacrifices, and know that always, you did your best. Nothing can hurt you now, God has your back.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Laverys as we lost a member of our police family. There is a deep saddness when a officers life is taken but each officer knows the danger. That is what makes them so special.

Peter, Words can't adequately express what you meant to me and all that were priviledged to know you. You were a true friend and a great mentor, not just to me, but to so many others. You taught me the meaning of patience, if not for that lesson I would never had made it though the Officer Candidate School. I miss you, your advise, your humor, and the e-mails you sent to me at a time of war, in order to let me know you were thinking of me and my fellow soldiers. I will think of you each and every time I get ready to do a ride. I know you will be there with us in spirit, grin on your face, cigar in hand, checking your gear and asking if we are all ready to roll yet. Yeah Peter, we're ready, we know you're there for us as always, taking the point and leading the way.

I wanted to post a message, but I wasn’t exactly sure what to write. What came to mind was the last time I saw Peter. As a police officer in an adjoining town, I last saw Peter about two weeks ago. I was traveling through Newington and stopped to assist a disabled vehicle. Peter arrived to take over in his marked cruiser. With a smile on his face, Peter approached my vehicle and thanked me for standing by. We exchanged a quick word and I returned to town. Though I didn’t know Peter that well, he always seemed to have a smile on his face whenever I ran into him. That’s how I will remember Peter Lavery. I am deeply saddened by Peter’s death and the loss to his family, friends, and community. He is in my thoughts and prayers. He will not be forgotten.

It is times like these when we unite to say thank you and remember all you and those before you have done. The debt we owe to you, your family and those like you who serve us can never be repaid. There is no greater sorrow than a senseless loss like this. A part of America dies each time this happens. Your memory will live on to strengthen and heal. Thank you for your sacrifice, and to all who serve so we may live in safety and freedom.

MPO Lavery, even though we worked next to each other, I never really knew you that well. With that being said, your courage and commitment to those you did not know will be an inspration to us all. As your watch here on Earth has ended, continue to watch over us from Heaven. Your family is in my prayers. Rest in peace.

Brother Pete, we have ridden many miles and had lots of laughs together. You have always been a good friend. Next year when Pa, Hoss, Hoss and Little Jim hop on the bikes and ride to the Holy Land we will smoke a cigar and ride in the wind knowing you are riding with us keeping us out of trouble.
