Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Master Police Officer Peter J. Lavery

Upon the markers of their graves
Our heroes etched in names we save
For all the life they gave with pride
To keep the peace within life's stride

To honor serve and do their best
To keep us safe through any quest
They gave up what was theirs to share
Their spirits shall be always near

No fear within the hearts and minds
To keep us safe within our times
The glory that is ours to see
Those special hearts of bravery

They have walked where no man dare
Their lives in danger with no care
For they have given all they could
For their courage we have stood

In awe of every one who gave
His life for others who they saved
So we will know their contribution
Their firm resolve and resolution

For those they left with hearts so broken
In every whispered word that's spoken
We bow our heads in confirmation
In every word life's revelation

Those who stand within their shoes
Will follow courage as they choose
And give to all the best they had
They carry on with spirits glad

We will know that they walked through
With colors bright and hearts so true
No Island stands alone they say
For heroes they are born this way

Protecting those with loyalty
A glimpse of so much royalty
Within the years of courage bound
These officers have earned their crown

Upon the earth we shall remember
The special goals and all their thunder
That proves a hero came our way
Who left their hearts on earth to stay.

Officer Lavery...If you haven't already, you're gonna run into another great officer named Bob Grim (EOW Nov. 12, 2004). Let him show you around, share a cigar and some stories, and if Heaven doesn't have a motor unit yet, you guys can start one.

God Bless you, your family and the Newington PD.

Pete, your Cool Hand Luke smile is engraved in my mind. Having the pleasure to ride with you, I am thankful. You showed what it is like to be a great husband and loving father. It was so easy for you to talk about your love of family, friends, and country.
Until we meet again, RIDE WITH THE WIND. Love ya brother.

A solid procession of cops stretching 1 1/2 miles down Chuch St., hundreds of motor units, giant American Flags hung across the street off NFD Truck 2, citizens lining the streets silently saluting, live TV coverage, National Guard Helicopters, bagpipe bands, Boston PD horse officers, OCC's Police Bike and one hell of a party afterwards on North Mountain Rd. all to honor our friend Pete Lavery.

We love you Pete. Keep on riding.

My heart goes out to the family of MPO Peter Lavery and the members of the Newington Police Department. I never had the honor of working with Peter as many of his fellow officers have. I do know that Peter will be remembered as a man of honor. Both to his family and to the badge. May Peter rest in Peace. We now have a new ANGEL to watch over the Lavery family, his friends, and fellow officers. To all others, Stay safe!!!!!!

Country, Community, And Courage, We will never forget.

Our phone rang Thursday night, my husband was out the door so fast, I almost missed the kiss good bye. At midnight I switched channels to channels looking for breaking new. At one, I wanted to call, but didn't, not wanting my husbands phone to ring at a wrong time. At two, I looked at the pictures from last years police week, and thought please don't let your name go on the wall, the phone rang, All I heard was we have hope, I think I finally went to sleep, but I jerked awake at and thought about your wife and Children. I know hope was one thing, but what we know now is another. Last night I stood four hours in the rain, before I shook your wife's hand, I just wanted to grab her, and hug her, hold her, she was so brave. Today, I went to the service, and stood and watched the sea of blue. I went to your funeral, and cried at the 21 gun salute. No I did not know you them, but now I do.

Good bye Officer Lavery, I will find your name on the Wall......

Rest in Peace

Though I did not know you personally, I pray for you and your family. I am a daughter of a police officer and know full well how much of a hero you are - to me, to the law enforcement community, and most of all, to your family. You embody all of what a lifelong police officer should be.

To the Lavery family - I pray for you all, that one day, the wonderful memories you have of your husband, father, and son will ease your pain. But, take your time...your police family will always be here for you.
