Master Police Officer Lavery, it has been 19 years since you were taken from us. New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your military and 22 years of law enforcement service.

I remember staring down the street. The house was a little elevated. Multiple teams setting up. So many cops milling around waiting wanting to help and not able to get in. You could here the guy tapping off rounds. Everyone geared up and still helpless to get him out. Terrible. We remember.

Pete Lavery was a really good guy. I'm not a police officer, I'm a civilian. When I was young, I worked at a donut shop in Berlin. Pete would come in almost every night. One night a little after midnight, as I was walking home, Pete saw me walking in the dark and stopped. When he found out I didn't have a car, he made it a point to stop by the donut shop every night at midnight and give me a ride home in the cruiser.

10 years ago today a brave officer lost his life in a senseless act of violence. Peace to him and to his family.

Peter:
Coming on the ten-year anniversary of losing you to the Great Beyond. The world you left behind has lost its mind...you would be shocked to see the current state of affairs. Your family is growing and doing beautifully, though you are so sorely missed at every celebratory event, every holiday; each and every day in fact. Ten years later, you are never far from my mind. I hope it is better where you are. Rest easy, brother. We still remember who you were and what you stood for.

Hey Pete, I was thinking of you today on my way in for nightshift. I had a nice cuban like the one we shared on the 911 Ride in 2003.

You were badly missed today on the ride down here. There wasn't a mile on the road that didn't bring back a memory of all the new roads we have found over the short years. Even when the days journey ended and we sat around hoisting a few there wasn't a story that didn't include you. Thanks for the weather. Always in our thoughts.

Peter,
Your daughter, Samantha, bought onsies for our twin sons. On them is a pair of handcuffs and it reads, "My Mom can arrest your Mom" I dressed them today and thought of how proud of you, your family is, how proud of you we all are, years later. We think of you often, when we ride, when we work, when we train and when Paul smokes a cigar! Your sacrifice and your memory are never forgotten. Rest peacefully my friend & Irish Warrior.

Wearing a shirt today that is from one of the Memorial Motorcycle rides. Yo'u're missed dearly down here sir. In a few months, I'll be taking the CHIP test, and look forward to the hiring process. I hope to continue the "Irish" tradition and work for the Newington PD. I ask for your guidance, and help through it. Because of your hardwork and dedication, I too want to be a police officer. Thank you for protecting Newington. Rest easy sir.

When he dies a component of the servants of the state whether they are policemen or other enforceability, it is always a huge pain, because we are all aware that this has happened to defend the integrity of every citizen whether America or other countries
I think all these people form the largest family of the defenders of the population
God help them and all those who defend us
