Chris, it’s hard to believe that today marks fourteen years since that tragic night. Your legacy and memory still carryon.
You touched so many lives and changed them for the better, you always had a knack for being clumsy which is what I thought happened that night. Rest easy my brother until we meet again.

It’s been a while since I’ve written, Chris. I’ve had a lot going on with what you and I talked about and the letter you gave me. I’ve visited your grave a lot and cleared the weeds from your headstone regularly. I think about you a lot and I’m sure you already know that.
Until we meet again buddy. I miss you a lot!!

The man eligible for parole is an accomplice who received 20 years after he proved that he tried to stop the actual killer and testified against the killer.

He is no monster, but regardless of what happened, an officer is still dead and he should reserve most of his sentence

Former Officer

Nolan Lee Chauvin didn't pull that trigger and even tried to stop Richard Whitaker. I do not think he is a monster. However, he was still involved in the death of an officer and he should serve most of his 20 years.

I understand that Nolan did try to stop that sick animal Richard Whitaker. I also understand that Nolan was a teenager (18) at the time and also the less culpable of the two.

But the police chief said it himself, although Nolan was obviously much less culpable in this evil murder, he deserved a severe punishment (excluding the death penalty)

Notice,

THE ACTUAL KILLER OF CHRISTOPHER LEE RUCE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR PAROLE, HIS ACCOMPLICE IS. I JUST WANT TO CLEAR EVERYTHING UP.

According to old news reports, due to attempts to stop the actual killer from shooting the police officer and testimony against him, the killer's ACCOMPLICE is scheduled for mandatory release on.

Guys, this parole eligibility is for the killer's ACCOMPLICE, not the actual killer

These guys were apparently planning to commit burglary. So you have Richard and Nolan, Richard is the guy who shot the officer, he got LWOP.

Turns out Nolan IS NOT the sick animal I originally thought.

Apparently Nolan had actually tried to stop Richard from shooting the police officer by driving off. Unfortunately, this punk Richard shot him anyway.

According to Georgia's Inmate Locator, Nolan is scheduled for mandatory release in 2024. He was not convicted of murder due to his attempts to stop Richard from killing Ruse, Nolan later testified against Christopher. The police chief of Georgia later credited Nolan with getting Christopher locked up for life WITHOUT the possibility of parole

This man should not be eligible for parole until 2030. Any man (or woman) who kills an officer should in my mind serve at least 25 years before parole is even considered. Even then it should only be done if they are truly rehabilitated. And also, I think they should be like massachusetts, where a cop killer (or any 1at degree murderer) is never eligible for parole unless they were juveniles at the time of the murder

Many of us were touched that night. Chris was a great guy and a well respected officer. What parole or shortened sentence will he be offered?

Chris Ruse was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was my Lieutenant at one time and he was also my friend. The mere thought of his murderer being paroled disgusts me. I hope this does not happen. This man should be in prison for a long, long time.

I knew Officer Ruse when he worked at Winder PD. Chris was well thought of in our community and highly respected for the way he performed his duties. His untimely death was totally uncalled for.
