May you rest in peace Deputy Hedman. Though I never knew you, my parents did. I do, however, know your Deputy partner very well. It's a shame what has been the outcome of this terrible tragedy! Thanks to you both for watching over my small home town. It was very unfortunate what happened, but you are now with God. Thank You.

God Bless the Hedman family with comfort and peace. We saw what happened on Primetime and are filled with compassion to those of you in Otero County that lost such a wonderful person to a tragedy. You are in our prayers.

Lastly, may God grant favor to the deputy that was locked up for DOING THE RIGHT THING.

I met Bob in 1983 while he was an Army recruiter in Nebraska. He was a great guy and we had a daughter that he knew about but had never met as, he went to Germany in January of 1984.Wish he could have met her. May you rest in peace Bob.

I researched your name after watching the dateline show last night. Has the Otero district attorney's office ever heard of perception/reaction? I was shocked to say the least. Rest assured your partner was there when you needed him. He responded with the flu which showed how much he wanted to make sure you would be ok. I thought the cowardly lion lived on the west coast and was not working in the Otero Couny DIstrict Attorney's office. Rest in peace brother!

I just saw the story about this on tv (abc - primetime) tonight. I cannot believe that his partner or friend...Billy Anders, ended up in jail for a year because of shooting the criminal who killed Deputy Hedman. Justice? for who? Our lawmakers need to get their act together.

Whose side are they on?

What a great guy.Just wish he was able to meet his daughter before he was called home. She really wanted to meet him but now knows how wonderful he was. Rest in peace Bob.

Brother Hedman,

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Respectfully,
You’re Brothers in Blue

there are very many unknowns in life, a husband's job, our children's stuggles, a tentative move, critical talk behind our backs, a search for our own identity, bills to pay, aged parents to look after.
let go completely. trust. live with it all in an open hand before God. Jesus promises he WILL work it all out. i do believe for you, always...a new sunrise. -ann kiemel anderson

God be with you Hedman family. He WILL work it all out for all of you.

On the anniversary of your death: I
just read your reflections and it seems all of America has been
grieving for you. Our hearts go out
to all those left behind and although
we know their journey has just begun, may this year be easier than
the last. Not that time will lessen the
sacrifice, but the pain.

Bob,

Not a day has gone by that I do not think about what happened to you. We shared that patrol area before I moved on, the people on the mountain are so nice it is hard to believe someone evil was able to slide in there without anyone knowing it. I know you are in a much better place now. RIP brother.
