Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Robert Walter Hedman

Again we mourn as another hero is taken from us. My deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers of Deputy Hedman. May the Lord give you strength and bless each of you during this time.

Rest in peace for your watch here is over; walk in heavens beat and guide us to protect and serve others safely.

Rest in Peace, Deputy Hedman...and may God give comfort to your loved ones.

Policeman's 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.

He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God,"
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake He keeps me whole.

When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door,
I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.

He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun

To the family, friends and co-workers my paryers are with you. There isn't much anyone can say that will help at this time. Just remember all of the good times, I know there were lots. The thing that helped me the most was knowing Clint loved being a police officer and would not have traded places with anyone.
Deputy Hedman your family will miss you everyday, but we will never forget you. Robert, look Clint up for me tell him we miss him and Merry Christmas...

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

I try to check this site every day in hopes that another Hero has not fallen. To confirm our worst thoughts, you put your life on the line so others may live. You paid the ultimate sacrifice. For that, you will live forever in the hearts of your peers, loved ones, and for all those whom you helped in your life. Rest easy, your beat is now in heaven.

Police Officers Prayer

Dear Lord, When I am Summoned to a Call
To Aid My Fellow Man,
Give me the Strength and Courage
To do the best I can

Enable me to stop a crime or useless waste of life,
and prevent a violation
of any human right.

Guide me in my duty Lord,
that I may be alert
to try to keep the innocent,
from ever being hurt.

I have taken an oath
to protect and serve,
and I will give the best in me
to guard every citizen,
and protect his life and property.

And Lord, If I must lose my life
please protect my fellow officers,
my family and my wife.

Amen

God bless you, you made the ultimate sacrifice. Peace be with you.

Fellow brother, May you rest in peace now. Now we have the watch and you have the honor of God's watch in heaven. To your family, may God rest his comforting hand upon you. Know that Deputy Hedman is our hero. No words can comfort you but look to the Lord and he will. It breaks my heart to come to the Officer Down page and see that another brother has paid the price of life by doing good by the people they protect. He died doing God's work and there is no higher honor. May God bless you and bless all the men and women who does the work of the Lord. Rest now brother, we will take on your burdens.
