Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Melissa M. Foster

Words cannot express how our hearts go out to Melissa's family, but I did get a card that tells how we feel that I would like to share with all of you.
I'll bet you've had about enough of people telling you how strong you are and how great you're doing during this awful, difficult period in your life.
Maybe you'd rather hear someone say how much this sucks, how outrageous and unfair it is.
Maybe you'd rather hear someone tell you that you don't have to be strong all the time.
Or that it's definitely okay to curse fate and throw a tantrum or two.
So here I am to tell you all that stuff and more, to let you know where I stand.
There's no right way or wrong way at a time like this.
However you work through this thing is immaterial to me.
All I care about is that you ask for what you need, lean on those who love you, and try to trust me when I say that you'll come out the other side.
Jeannie Hurd.
Hope you find a little comfort in this and we ache for each and every one that was close to Melissa.

My thoughts and prayers are extended to the family and friends of Officer Foster and especially her two young children, who have lost their mommy just weeks before Christmas. Although, I did not know Officer Foster personally, it still did not make it any easier, seeing the devastation and aftermath that a drunk driver caused and just knowing that yet another one of "Columbus's finest" had made the ultimate sacrifice. As we say a prayer for Officer Foster, lets not forget to say one for those officers that were first on the scene and tried to save her and the horrific images that they will have to endure for the rest of their lives.

To the family, friends and co-workers my prayers are with you. There isn't much anyone can say at this time that will help, I wish there was. The one thing that helped me, was knowing that Clint loved being a police officers, and would not have traded places with anyone, unless it was in law enforcement.
Officer Foster your family will miss you everyday, but we will never forget you. Look Clint up for me, give him a big hug and tell him that I love him the most, you'll get a big smile from him :o) Thank you for your sacrifice, and making this a better place for us to live.

To your family my heart goes out to you. I truly know your pain as I lost a very good friend Deputy Sheriff John Gunsell e.o.w. 9/12/04 no words can express the pain you are going through. I truly wish I would never see another officer added to this memorial page as the cost is just to great. To Melissa's children always know your mother loved you very much and she will always be with you but the pain of losing her will always be there. As long as you keep your mother in your heart she will still be with you. Melissa if you see my buddy John on your new watch please tell him we miss him.
