Hey Mark,
You know, It's been three years and I still remember you every day.
I remember the last time we hung out, outside of work, and it was a blast!
I know we put our lives on the line everyday but we never really expect it to be the LAST. You were more than brave, you are more than a hero, you gave your life to save others...maybe even mine. Thank You.
P.S. You still owe me $30.00

Mark, you will always be "Top Cop" in my book. I miss the times of running into you at work for whatever reason. Even though the state line divides our city, we still feel as one in times like this. You and your family will always be in the thoughts and prayers of our Department's members.

Well Mark it's over...justice came to Johnson. I'd give anything to hear on the radio that 438 is 10-98 10-8 handled. Well brother it was handled today. 12 brave citizens of Sullivan County took up your fight, and they did it just like you would have, with honor and integerity. We miss you more than words can say, and we will NEVER forget the things that you stood for. Please continue to look after us down here, and one day brother we will meet again.

I was in Kuwait waiting to go into Iraq when Officer Tucker who was serving with us at the time got the news officer Vance was killed, even though I never knew officer Vance I saw how much grief his fellow officer was enduring. All of us serving our country and community salute that fallen officer. One last note the killer got his day in court just like he should have, and was sentenced to death today.

Mark, November 27th may be on Monday this year, but to me, it will always be the Saturday night after Thanksgiving. I won’t forget and can’t forget that night. You are missed very much by your family and friends. Just want you and your family to know that I think of you and them every day.

Hi Mark,
The day is drawing nearer, and as I told him, I could feel you with him, just as I do this moment which drew me here.
By Spirit, you have kept him and keep all stronger. There are many who miss you and love you dearly.
Hug them closely, in God's trust and care, look after us, and before us.

This day I quietly sit here to pray
That a breeze floats the cheek
Of your wife and daughter this very day
May it whirl around their figures
May it warm their depths of heart
Knowing always and forever
True love does never part.
Dear Mark,
God bless your soul Soldier.

Today is our birthday. Today was our birthday. Just another day as time passes, now. I've nothing to celebrate little brother, except that I know that you are in the presence of God and celebrating your arrival in heaven, finally to have come home after a tour of duty down here. We miss you. I miss you. Keep watching our backs and hopefully I'll see you again.

Mark, my brother, not a day has passed that I haven't had you in my thoughts. Some days, I have cried, but mostly I smile. No one knows why things happen the way they do. I do know that you are loved by all your brothers and sisters in blue and we miss you dearly. I have tried to rationalize irrational events, I can't. I know in my heart that god put you here to save me. I am forever indebted to you. God works in mysterious ways. A young girl sent to speed in front of me. The decision to stop her. I hear the call in my zone that you are dispatched to. Three other cars respond to back you. I decide to write the ticket. Then I hear the most awful thing I can recall in my career. "Shots fired....Officer down!" They say that everyone has a guardian angel....mine just happened to be Mark Vance. Mark, I love you and I hope I can live up to the sacrifice you made for me. Forever your brother in blue.
