May God Bless Mark's family...........Nothing more need be said except we grieve for the loss of a brother and fallen comrade. But our loss pales in comparison to the loss of a father.......to the loss of a son. May comfort in some way find Mark's family, his friends, and all those whom his life touched. While our hearts swell with anger over yet another senseless tragedy, let us fondly remember Mark and find comfort where we can. May God bless Mark's family and his brothers & sisters with Bristol TN PD. God speed Mark........

My deepest sympathy to the Vance family and his friends. I come to this site every day and hope that there are no new names added, but we know that as long as there are bad guys out there, the list will continue. We of the Bartlett PD want to offer our heartfelt condolences to the Officers and family of this fine Officer. It takes a person of courage to charge into the fray, but a person of true bravery to charge into the fray for free, as he had done in the past. God bless, and keep safe.

My prayers to you, your mother, brother, and your daughter, because deep down in their hearts we all know that you are now their angel to watch over and protect them. I pray that your daughter will one day understand that you died doing what you loved and that as she grows up no matter what she knows that you'll be here with her through her ups and her downs, her fears and her joys. Even seeing her go off to and from school and every play or sport she so chooses to do, and even her proms and her marriage. I hope that your mother will rest assured that you are still her little boy no matter what, and that you will also be there to watch over her, even though she may wonder how someone could do such an evil thing to her little boy, and your brother, he's your brother, through thick and thin I'm sure he'll stand up for you as much as you will/have him. And rest assured that with your daughter now as you have taught her so many things, she's going to teach everyone else that life does go on after losing a loved one and she'll be able to handle whatever life throws her way. Now your watch on Earth is done, and the most rewarding watch has began, being able to be an angel and protect others with your heavenly wings of blue. Know now that you can sleep at peace at night.

I am so very saddened to hear of the loss of Officer Vance. What a tragedy perpetrated by such a vile and cowardly cur. I hope that justice is swift and appropriate in this terrible case. I pray for this brave officer's family, friends and colleagues.

I am an officer in nearby Avery County NC and I still check this site from Iraq while on military orders here. What a tragic loss of a fine family man and sterling officer, so young and full of life.

While our ranks here on earth were thinned by one, the watch on St. Michael's beat in Heaven has a new officer on the shift. Though we are grieved by his untimely passing, we can take heart in knowing that he is now on a permanent post in Heaven.

Rest easy brother, we have the watch from here. Be safe out there brothers and sisters.
