Reflections for Police Officer William Rivera

To the Rivera Family:
I am an officer that road in the Police Unity Tour. At the candle light vigil I tried to find any NYPD officer that would know where you were. I have Williams braclet that I wore durring the ride in honor of him. I would like to give this braclet to you. If you could please contact me I would be more then happy to send it to you.

Policeman's Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so suprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us your inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God, as we have been the city of men. Amen.

May God bless you and your family.

Becky,

I too lost my fiancee on duty. Not only was he my best-friend and love, he was also a fellow officer I admired. I know what you must be feeling. I've been there myself for over 2 years now. I'm so sorry you and william's family had to become part of the "survivor" family. I just want to let you know that there are other fiancee's out there for you to lean on.
You can contact me anytime through MI-COPS.

I've read that our love ones never truely leave us....they are always with us in our hearts. I believe it. William will always be there for you, your son, his daughter, parents, and sisters. Every he loves and those who love him.

Please don't hesitate to contact me. As a sister in blue, and a fiancee.

Hugs,

Officer Rivera

Reading the reflections of your family, friends and fellow officers has made a lasting impression on me. I spent 18 years of my youth living in New York City, but decided to return to my home state of Tennessee to become a police officer. It is apparent that they do not come finer than you Officer Rivera, and I send my condolences to your department for their loss. God Bless you Officer Rivera.

I had the pleasure and honor of working with PO Willy Rivera when he was first assigned to the 78 pct. Willy was one of those rare people who are always happy and smiling, no matter what is happening around them. I never once saw Willy angry or upset. Willy... you will be greatly missed by your co-workers, friends and most of all; family. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and fiance.

Willie was a none stop COP. In the years that I have known and seen him work he has not stopped or even slowed down in his work. This is amazing for a COP of his time. I will not forget our time together. Adios

In the 21 years I've spent with the NYPD, I can honestly say that they don't come any better than Willie Rivera. Always a smile, never a bad word about anyone. Always has your back, on or off the job. Even though I now have more room to change in the locker room (his locker is directly across from mine), I'd rather take another elbow to my ribs than have that feeling of loss everyday I change my clothes. God Bless his family and loved ones.

To the Rivera family I leave my deepest sympathies. As a former member of the 78 pct. I feel a tremendous loss. Willie was the best and anyone who worked the late tour can attest to that. He'll be missed by all of us who knew him.

To Officer Rivera's fiancee,

You, along with his family, will remain in my prayers. I personally know the pain of a lost soulmate. Just know that there are unfortunately many others out there who also have had a similar experience. While no one can fully understand your innermost thoughts and feelings, I have been standing in the same place you are right now. Take comfort in knowing that your fiancee is now watching over you from above. God bless you all.

When my brother was recovering in the hospital I dedicated this to him not knowing what was to become of his fate. I considered him my Spartan because it reminded me of William's heroism and dedication. I now dedicate it to all the heros in Blue. I love and miss you Nene.

To William (my nene):

God honored me with the gift to be your baby sis (as you called me) and I will cherish all of our memories together like a precious gem. I am proud of everything you accomplished in this life. And now that you have gone, you become another star in the sky, shinning so bright in the midnight sky. I always said "You will be a star one day"!
