Our family is so sorry for your loss. We came to see Officer Grim today for the very last time, and were deeply touched by the respect shown by the entire Daytona area. The portrait of him that was displayed, showed the person that we will always remember; helpful, caring, and always a smile on his face. Your entire family will be remembered in our prayers. Please know that he was called "home" because he had completed his journey here on earth. We feel blessed to know that we now have another "angel" to watch over us from above. God Bless you all!
In HIS love,

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family, friends, and coworkers of Officer Bob Grim. You can tell just by looking at his picture that Bob was a great guy who loved what he was doing. I can only imagine the great influence Bob had on countless officers during his years of service. Your brothers and sisters with the Delaware State Police mourn your loss and share your grief.

The urgent calling of nature longs to be tested, seeks to be challenged beyond itself. The warrior within us beseeches Mars, the god of War, to deliver us to that crucial battlefield that will redeem us into the terrifying immediacy of the moment. We want to face our Goliath so we may be reminded that the warrior David is alive, in us. We pray to the war gods to guide us to the walls of Jerrico so we may dare the steadfastness and strength of our trumpet call. We aspire to be defeated in battle by powers so much greater than ourselves, so that the defeat itself will have made us larger than when we arrived. We long for the encounter that will ultimately empower us with dignity and honor....Be not mistaken: the longing is there and it's terrible and beautiful and tragic.

If you ever met Bob Grim you would forever remember what a fine officer and person he was, and what a privilege it was to have met him. To the Grim family I can only point out that Bob has affected more people's lives in a positive way than can be counted. We all should strive for that kind of excellence in our own lives. God Bless, we will miss you.

Officer Grim,
Although I did not know you personally I knew a great deal about the kind of person and police officer you were from my husband Keith. I remember my husband telling me how kind and passionate you were and always there for others as well as your humorous personality. I also remember the night that God called for you to go on duty for him in Heaven, my husband at your side and then he called me of the sad news. Just to let you know you will be dearly missed and my sincere condolences and prayers for your family and all in law enforcement. May God be with your family and they be reassured you will always be watching over them.

Like many, I will remember Bob's smiling face..the times when he would pull up to me on a traffic stop and say, "Hey kiddo..You Okay?..You need anything?" He was always ready and willing to assist if need be. That's the kind of person he was. Bob will be sorely missed by his family, friends and the law enforcement community. May he rest in peace.

I met Bob in 1988 when I started as an officer with the City of Daytona Beach. Bob was one to always help new officers. He would like up a room and always had a joke to tell. I will never forget his beautiful singing. I will never forget Bob or his family.

Bobby,
I remember you to this day as I reflect how 28-years ago, my view of your “boyish” enthusiasm and camaraderie enticed me to follow my dreams and ambitions. You imparted your knowledge freely, never allowing disdain for anyone to interfere with the regard you routinely demonstrated for your co-workers and those whose lives you touched. Through disappointments and achievements you remained “Bobby Grimm”! No matter how bright a room was it became brighter upon your presence. Though our commonality of work dissevered as our lives took different, you remembered me by name in our happenstance meetings these last 28-years as you would say, “Georgie how’s things going!” In my eyes Bobby, your heart was as great as your stature, but never so great as I ever knew you to treat another less than an equal. Thank you my friend for touching my life as you did. Thank you Linda for the infinite times you shared your husband as he served his community and his fellowman, allowing him to make a difference for us all!
Sincerely,

I never knew you,
But we are brothers,
I never met you,
But we are brothers,
Our paths never crossed,
But we are brothers,
I have never patrolled in your town,
But I know we have been on duty together,
just in another town.
And we are brothers.
And as a brother,
I feel the pain,
I feel the hurt,
And I feel the sadness that only a brother can undergo.
The sacrifices that each of us make everyday in nothing compared to the one you and your fellow officers have accepted.
One that everyone one of us is aware could happen
Any day, any moment, any second.
You have made me proud,
You have made my job easier because
I am more aware.
I am more cautious
And I will never forget you.
May God hold you in his hand and have you rest in peace.

From the citizens Bob served- Well done! To the Officers around the world who see these messages- you will never see a more squared away Police Officer than Bob Grim. My deepest sympathy and regrets to the family and friends of Bob. I first met Bob in 1998 when Volusia County was forming their Crime Stoppers organization. Bob made me feel as if I had been part of the organization for a long time. I'll miss that big smile and bigger heart. God bless.
