Reflections for Police Officer Amy Lynn Donovan
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the members of the Austin Police Department and the family of Officer Donovan. Be there always for her family. Only two months ago we lost our brother, Officer Timothy Nielson. Officer Steven Lindsay left a reflection for Tim, so I feel it is only right that I do the same for you. Be strong. Our prayers are with you.

To the family and friends of Officer Donovan: My heart breaks for each and every one of you. The feelings of losing someone as wonderful as Amy is all too fresh to me, as I lost an outstanding friend Jonathan Walsh on August 20th. People like Amy and Jon that have such a profound effect on everyone they ever came in contact with, are irreplaceable......that is why we should be so thankful that we were chosen to be a part of their lives here on earth. Amy is beatiful on the outside, and from what I have read even more beautiful on the inside. I pray each day that your family will find the strength to get through this tragedy. May God bless each one of you.

To the family of Officer Amy Donovan and the members of the Austin Police Department, I send my sincere condolences to you. It is NEVER easy losing a member of your department or a member of your family. But whatever you do, never add a question mark to where the good Lord places a period. Amy is in a better place now and although I never had the opportunity to meet and work with her, I'm sure she was a fine officer, mother and wife. Keep your heads up above the clouds and continue to keep her in your memories. God be with you and all of us, as we leave our family, friends and loved ones to go to work everyday.

To The Donovan Family,
I was there with Amy from the scene to Brack. I only knew her for a few minutes, but from the comments I have heard and the actions I have seen, I feel as if I had know her for years. I do know now that I will never forget her. My thoughts and prayers go out to you her family, I can not imagine your loss, but wish you all my deepest heart felt condolences. As she did her duty with pride and honor here on earth, she still serves in heaven. You all have made your wife, mother, brother/sister, friend, fellow officer proud with the amount of respect, emotion, strenght, and love you have shown throughout this toughest time. Again I am sorry for everyones loss, and know you will always have family in blue but also in white, and they/we will be there for you in any and everyway we can.

Officer Donovan you are a true hero! I was in the car when the teletype came over the MDC saying that you had been killed. It was hard to accept that yet another fine person and protector had been taken. Thank you for your sacrifice. To the Officers of APD the hardest thing is to push on and continue to do the job even when it pains you to do so. Thats what seperates us from the rest of the world and makes us special. You can do it and Amy would want you to. To the family of Officer Donovan. I pray that God allows you to feel the prayers of of Amy's brothers and sisters in blue around the country. May God sustain you through this very difficult time. God blees you!
Please everyone wear your vests and be safe.

My deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of this Officer.
It saddens me everytime I see a new name added to the Fallen Officer List.
It is hard to understand sometimes, why these things happen.
I pray that you have mercy on her Police Partner. I am sure that Amy would tell you the same. Accidents are just that...ACCIDENTS.
To Officer Donovans children & husband: Your Mom & wife were a true hero. Always remember that...and make her proud.
I am Mom of a Police Officer and I believe that people that go into Law Enforcement are a "special" type of person.
Thank You Officer Donovan...for your time served; protecting us all. May you now Rest in Peace.

I learned about the tragic death of Officer Donovan by watching the touching memorial that was aired on tonight's edition of America's Most Wanted. My heart felt sympathy and condolences goes to the family of Officer Donovan. From law enforcement to security, we all work in the dangerous field of public safety and protecting the lives of others so in that sense, that makes all of us a family. We have all lost a sister who gave her life doing what she loved to do the most, protecting the public. May you rest in peace Officer Donovan as you look down on us and protect us.

Amy Donovan, you are with the Creator now. I only wish that there was some way that I could take some of the pain away from your family my sister. To the friends and family, please pay close attention and give extra love to her husband. He has endured a loss that no one can truly comprehend, and he needs a lot of company and love.
In the world we live in today, we as law enforcement have it a lot harder than many others. Irregular days off, erratic hours, occassionally not so friendly supervisors, abnormal public behavior, and worst of all, a salary that is unreal compared to the risk we daily take. In knowing all of this, one can only ask one question. What does it take? What does it take to change the true essence of man and his way of thinking?? Here was a man wanted on a warrant, wish was minor, and he took a minor and temporary situation and turned it into a horrible permanent situation. I hope the courts deal with him accordingly.
May GOD bless all my brothers and sisters in blue. Always remember, we are and always will be in a class my ourselves. Stay alert and safe.
