On behalf of the Indianapolis F.O.P. #86 Auxiliary we send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of Deputy Winfield. Two months ago today our department and community suffered the tragic loss of one of our own hero's, and four other officers injured. A short time later, another officer was taken from us, both by gunfire. Find strength in knowing that we are all with you in your time of grief and sorrow. While no one can take away the pain your are feeling, please remember that you are not alone and never will be. Stay safe, stay strong!

To The Family of Sheriff Winfield may I leave you with this quote:
I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom

Brandy, you were always a stand up guy who thought of others. You lived and breathed Policework and were doing what you loved.
I will always remember fondly our time together in the Explorers and in the Academy. You always had a smile or a sarcastic joke.
Goodbye and God Bless, you made all of us who knew you better people.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Today, October 17, 2004 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Deputy Sheriff Brandy Lyn Winfield who died in the line of duty just three days ago.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Deputy Winfield's sacrifice will never be forgotten.
