Reflections for Assistant Chief of Police Bill Jewel "Putt" Linder
Hey Uncle Putt,
It has been a while since I wrote to you. Just wanted to tell you hey and tell you that I miss you. Everything is so different now that you are gone. I wish you were here to try and help mend all the problems. I hope you know that you are loved and missed dearly. Tell Grandma Blanche that I said hey.
Love Always,

A Linder family reunion was held in Wisner yesterday. We missed you and watching you enjoy the company of your family.
Dana had a car accident a few weeks ago but everything turned out okay. She only has 3 weeks of school left when we go back after spring break is over. It's hard to believe she is about to graduate. Uncle Milton will be presenting her scholarship in your honor. We are so proud he will be doing it, but I know it will be hard for him and hard for Dana. What a proud moment for all of us it will be, though.
Another ball season is upon us. Leighton already hit a homerun at his first (or second?) practice. We are looking forward to a great season. He picked #2 to be his number since your number was 2. He will make you proud.

From all of your wonderful reflections, it was obvious you were very much loved and respected. Thank you for serving your community, and I'm so glad that justice was served. It won't bring you back to those who loved you, but I hope it gives them some small comfort......

I accidentally pressed the enter key and didn't get to finish my reflection. As I was saying, I am very proud to have known Bill personally, even though not all that well. I remember him saying he wished he had gotten into law enforcement years before he did. So do I, old friend. We would have rested easier for alot longer. I miss you.

I haven't been to ODMP in a while, but the number of people who have been to Bill's page really impresses me and makes me even prouder to have known him. Especially local people who knew him personally. That just goes to show how well-loved he was.

I've had you on my mind alot lately. When i pass by i always look over at your and Aunt Sue's house. It makes me think of how things use to be sometimes i cry. At times i even smile. It makes me sad because we miss you so much. Then I get a warm feeling in my heart it makes me proud to have had you as a part of my life. We love and miss you so much.

Hey Pops, This time of the year is one of the hardest. The weather is cool and it is just about time to start rabbit hunting. We do miss meeting you at Parks Gro. getting coffee and getting in the woods. Charles still has Boomer and J.R. and they are still the best. Love you and miss you.

I miss you so. It seems like it's getting harder and harder for me to deal with. I think this year may be harder than last year. I love you so much, and I know you'll always be here with me!

Hey Papaw...I was just sitting at work thinking of you. I've been getting depressed these past few days, because I know it will soon be the 2 year anniversary of your death. I miss you so much! I just wanted to let you know that I am always thinking of you and I love you so very much!
Love always and forever,

We sure miss you! Dana is now a senior in high school. It's hard to believe she is graduating in 8 months. We finally got her a car! Now that that has been taken care of, she has been concentrating on school and scholarships and housing for when she starts at ULM next summer. She started working on an oil portrait of you awhile back, but it is hard for her to work on it. She's a very talented artist, but she is too critical of herself. I am now teaching 3rd grade and get to have Leighton for about 1.5 hours a day. It's kind of funny when he raises his hand and I'm thinking he has a "school" question, but he always asks a "home" question or tells me something that has nothing to do with school. We will go to Lake Charles in September for your last memorial. We are all going to proudly represent you. Love and miss you!

Hey,Pop We just got back from the State Pitching Machine tournament in Deridder. You would have been proud of Leighton because he hit got on base in every game(In fact he only got out twice in 5 games). We did pretty good 2 wins and 3 losses. Could have been better but we could have lost all 5 games. Not bad for a bunch of country boys. Only thing better would have been you sitting in the stands cheering for the boys from South Franklin. Miss you

Hey Uncle Putt,
It has been over two years and I still think about you. I can remember when you used to have the greenhouse in town and you would always be up there working. I went to christmas with the Linder family and it felt so funny not seeing you and mammaw Blanche. I saw Bryan, Carol-Dee, Aunt Sue, Leighton and Dana the other day. You would be so proud of Dana. Dana and I were in a pageant together this weekend. We both wore the same color for interview and after the pageant. Dana looked so pretty that night.I wish that you could have been there to see us. I wish you could meet my boyfriend. I think that you would like him. His name is Bradley. Tell mammaw that I said hello and that I miss her. Take care of her for me until I can get up there to take care of her myself. I love you Uncle Putt.

We will never forget you. Just today at the jail we were reflecting back on past experiences with you and we were able to smile thinking of you. Mr. Putt I, as well as everyone who knew you, will never forget you. We will continue to bring justice in memory of you.

Dana has been "babysitting" (haha) Byron and Sarah on most Saturdays that Mrs. Sue is working. You would really enjoy having all four of them together. I overheard Byron and Leighton talking the other day, and they both said that if they could have any wish in the world, they would wish to have you back. We all miss you very much.
