Reflections for Trooper Darryl Louis Haywood, Sr.

Though I never had the privilege to work alongside you, I think of you every time I see your memorial signs on I4 at the 118 eastbound and 129 westbound mile markers. Please continue to look down and keep your fellow Troopers safe everyday. You are not forgotten!

Darryl,
I still miss you. Everyday I think of you, and wonder what life would be like if you were here. I know that you are watching, ever vigilant. Darryl and Erica are doing well, our three Grandgirls are just beautiful . Your Chloe is a wonderful girl. She is very special to me, as she was to you. Taylor is the image of her father, and Anna is has a mind of her own. All happy children.
I know that you, Mom, Granny, Morgan, and your Mom are in eternal peace.
I will always love you.

Pop Pop ,
Mommy is 32 now. She has 2 degrees and has her mind set on opening her own practice. Uncle Darryl is 27 ( I think ) and a very hard working Air Marshal. He asked me the other day if I remembered you. I said not really because I was two when you passed. I wish I could have been there too share more memories with you.
Love You ,
Chloe

What's up, its time for another father and son trip. This time we are going to Jacksonville, FL for 4 days. Last year we went to Hilton Head SC and we both are looking forward to our time alone. He is growing up so fast its hard to believe. I got married again on the 19th of April and my wife found us a hotel on the beach, and all he wants is to get in the pool and relax ( like he has a job and stressed out). I am very happy and Shonterria (wife's name) and I do a lot of traveling. We just spent 2 weeks in Italy, and is planning a family trip in NOV. of this year. It will be 10 years this OCT. since you have been gone and hopefully I will get a chance to take Dylan to ur grave site. He was just a baby when the Lord called you home to protect the highways in Heaven. Alright man I just wanted to drop u a few lines to let you know I haven't forgotten about you. Love you sign Paul, Shonterria and son Dylan Stokes.

Good morning, Merry Christmas and I hope you will have a Happy Year. I am blessed to have seen another Christmas day and able to spend it with Dylan. All he wanted was so headphones by Dr. Dre called Beats. His mom bought buy them and he was very happy. I like to invest the money that I would give him and maybe one day he won't have to work so hard. I was on the 24th and 25th and back on it today, but its very quite. I know you had a great time, not needing anything because you have the most important thing ( Angel Wings). I was looking at your trooper shirt that Linda gave me and you know I started smiling and laughing, because you guys were funny together. I was hoping for some snow, but you know here in GA., that's not happening. I just wanted to drop you a few lines to let you know I haven't forgotten about you and the fun times that we all shared. I will write back soon, Lord Will. Paul and son Dylan Stokes

Darryl,
On this day that we honor those who have given their lives for their country and community, I honor you.
I will always love and miss you, until my last breath. Your legacy continues with the birth of your new Granddaughter, Anna Malloy.
Chloe is now a big sister, and Taylor is no longer the smallest! All three are beautiful, and will grow up knowing that their Grandfather is a hero.
Continue to watch over us and protect us.
All my love,

What's man, I was just sitting here reading all your reflections and man a lot of people love Mr. Haywood. I often read Linda's reflections and remember how she would look at you with that big smile. It had to be LOVE, after all she were there to when you needed her the most in NY.LOL You know what I am talking about. Kia and I will be divorced one year coming May 23, but we are both happy and raising our son together. Thats the most important thing to me. He is 11 and I let him drive the other day and now thats all he wants to do. Well thats all the up dates for now,but I will keep in touch. Love you man and take care. Paul and Dylan Stokes

Darryl, This has been a tough month. We should have celebrated your 58th birthday, Erica's 31st birthday, and our anniversary together as a family.
Christmas brings about so many emotions: some sad, most are the happy memories of the kids when they were growing up, and of the Grandgirls now. Those were happy days!
I put up the tree yesterday. I call it my memory tree. Every ornament has meaning, and commemorates an occasion.
As usual, the house is over-decorated. I haven't changed.
You are the angel that protects us always.
We love and miss you. Merry Christmas in Heaven, my love.

Eight years ago you were taken from us.
I still remember your voice, your smile, your laugh, and how you looked the day I saw you last. I loved you then, and love you today.
You have to be proud of Erica and Darryl Jr. They have done well. Chloe is still the most remarkable child, and Taylor is ALL Darryl!
Only The Lord knows how much I miss you. Until we are together again, loving memories will have to sustain me.
Rest in peace. You are my hero.
