I drove by the site on I4 on Monday and I took a few minutes to reflect on all that has happened since that day. How many people drive by without knowing what happened. I still haven't seen the highway dedication sign and hope that it is erected soon. Remembering you in the Academy days, how you were well liked, I remain committed but now try to have a little more of your compassion for people. Take care and please protect us in our daily mission.

I had the honor of working with Darryl for a short time while in the NYPD Major Case Squad. He was a very caring and giving person. Always up beat and never said a bad word about anyone. He will always be missed, and respected.
Rest in peace Darryl.

Trooper Haywood, You gave me my first speeding ticket.....Thank you. Your son wrote me my second speeding ticket. His words to me were How many hints to slow down do you need? When i looked at his name plate. I got it.I now know that being 5 mins late is not the end of the world but it could be the end to someone elses. I will forever be greatfull May God hold you and your family in His devine grace and i pray that your heavenly spirt always be your sons "wing man"

Dearest Darryl,
As you always promised, you have continued to care for and protect your family, even in death. I know in my heart and soul that our son had the protection of his "Fathers", Jesus and you when he was hit by that truck. I thank God daily for sparing his life, and that his father was able to protect and comfort him.
Darryl, we miss you more than you could ever know. My dreams of you are comforting, but they leave me more aware of how painful my loss is.
Until we are together again in Heaven, I remain,
Your eternal love.
