Reflections for Park Ranger Suzanne E. "Suzi" Roberts
Sooz,
I miss you.
You made the times we spent together fun.
You gave support and care when it was needed.
You left way too early.
Thank you for showing me how great this all can be.
I won't forget.

No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say good-bye,
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knows why.

Sooz
I have only a very short list of people that have made a difference in my life, in fact only one other is there, now he has company.
I am not talking of close relatives but of an individual that has given me nothing but pleasure to be around.
Maybe it is selfishness that I say this, but it has to be known to others as well. Anyone who has known Sooz remembers something about her that stays with them forever.
We will get together and reminese what she has meant to each and everyone.
Her smile, her humor, and her voice especially brought her to our hearts.
She is every bit the hero that is brought home from some war torn area of this earth.
Her name will be remembered.

Little sister tagging along
To gun-totin' ranger capable, strong
Mountains surround
All nature's around
It's natural.
The rock
Life stops
The shock
No! No! It's not...
It's just not natural.
Didn't want to say goodbye
Minds keep asking why
Words are heavy, hollow, trite
No matter what is right
She's with the supernatural.

Of Suzi
The Mountains
We'd hike up and down
Mountains of food at the holidays
The mountains of cold hard facts
we face now in a haze.
The Streams
Pure and cold, great fishing
The streams of memories together
The streams of tears
that now flow down.
The Waves
At Lake Geneva while sailing or
at the beach
Waves of hello and goodbye
Now waves of sadness
Washing over us in grief.
Mountains, Streams and Waves
Aren't the same anymore...

Suze, I and Ellen will miss you greatly. I don't think you ever knew the impact you made on the people around you! You made our first date a lot of fun! Godspeed Suzi, we'll see you again someday.

In looking at the beauty and maturity of such a wonderful Park Ranger, Suzi, you are so much like my daughter who so dearly loved working outdoors as a Park Ranger and providing a safe and lovely place for the public to enjoy God's glorious handiwork in nature. May your family, particularly your parents, rejoice in knowing that you did your best and loved your work. There are no law enforcement officers who do not love their work and take pride in all they do. We will miss you and may God grant peace and eternal memory of your devotion to all your family and co-workers.

Suzi-
I will always remember our many trips into Mariposa. Oh, how we laughed! The conversation always turned to the job you loved and of course the people and the pets you missed so much. You had such a good heart. So good, in fact, that upon meeting you I instantly knew you were a sincere, happy and loving person. You will be missed by so many people.
Until we meet again.

I remember your laugh and how we laughed so hard together I had an asthma attack. I remember your love for your family, for Peter and for your dog. I thought we'd have so much more time. I'm grateful for the time we had. You are not and can not be forgotten. I will remember you and the 30 days we shared in Yosemite.
Until we meet again

Thanks Sooz.
For your time and your example.
You are still missed here, every day. I am trying to continue the things that you were trying to accomplish, and boy does it suck! I want you here to do them with me... but in your absence I will try to make you proud.
I was honored to work with you and call you friend. I was looking forward to all the times we were yet to have.
I will continue the work that you believed in and gave you life for.

Teardrops fall like rain
A rememberance of all that has been.
A smile and a laugh you will always be remembered for.
What is in a hand and a soul that is never faltering?
A child should never go before a parent.
Isn't it strange how it takes an event such as this for a parent to realize that the child they knew was special in their eyes was special in the eyes of all around her, from coast to coast she was and is loved.
She brought love and light to places thought lost.
Some will throw all their ties away because she is not there anymore to tie them.
Some will put the stocking cap that she gave to them before departing to Hawaii in their pillowcase so as to have dreams of her at night.
What is it in nature that causes a rock so precariously hung to tumble to the ground at that very moment?
Any time that you go to help someone else, or stoop to remove the rocks from the roadway of life, remember that you are not alone, that Suzi is there with you, guiding you. Your hands and hers together.

Sooz, you lit up all of our lives and especially Peter's, I still see you in him now, in the way he talks and remembers you with everything he does and says. It is wonderful, you changed his life and you will never be forgotten. Winter Park will always keep you as a part of it's family. Thanks for all the smiles (& red vines)

Sooz, you are a light in my life. I went to Winter Park to spend Christmas with my brother in law, but also anticipated seeing you and getting to spend time with you. Thank you for all the good memories you have left me and my family with. You will never be forgotten. You are unique in all that you do and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. You are loved more than you will ever know, and will be missed dearly. Winter Park will be a lonely place without you there to help my little ones down the slopes again, and come over and bake cookies for Santa.
I'm sure The Pub is a much quieter place to be after a long day on the lifts.
Aloha, hello and goodby.

We never know the hour that we are going to be called to the final roll call. The Lord stretches forth his gentle hand and we are gathered in to his love and peace. Dispare not! Suzanne lives on in the good deeds, laughs, smiles, and thousands of other things she did during her life. Rest in peace sister, until that final day, when we all will be joined in the final roll call.

At first I didn’t understand why she had to go – it made no sense to me. With time and much thought I have since found a scant trace of understanding into the departure of Sooz. It was as if she was in our lives as the teacher and we were the students. She taught us to treat everybody with kindness and respect regardless of the situation, and that life and the world we live in is a precious commodity and we should never take either of them for granted.
When I think of Sooz, I will do so with a tear and a smile, for I am happy to have known her, but sad she had to go.
Here's to all of your friends and family finding their "Alelele" someday and joining you in your new adventures!

To all Family, Friends, and Co Workers of this Officer:
On Behalf of myself, and the Family of Police Officer Daniel Starks (Ft Myers Fl, E/O/W 10-25-03) we want you to know that you are all in our prayers! The Lord will sustain you as you go through this difficult, and trying time, but just remember your loved one is being cared for in Heaven, and is now eternally safe. We hope that you all remain as strong as possible, and know that we are all thinking of you. No words are quite ever adequate, but Police Officers make the ultimate sacrifice everyday, and our hope, and prayer is that they will always be remembered for their heroic efforts, and kind hearts.
Love,
Jessica Ruhl (Daniel’s Fiancée) & the Family of Officer Daniel Starks

To the family, friends and co-workers my prayers are with you. I wish there was something that I could say to help you but there is nothing. The only thing that helped me was knowing the fact that Clint loved being a police officer, and would not have traded places with anyone.
Ranger Roberts I know that your family will miss you everyday, but we will never forget you. Look Clint up for me tell him I miss him dearly.

A BEND IN THE ROAD
When we feel we have nothing to give,
And we're sure that the song has ended,
When our day seems over and the shadows fall
And the darkness of night has descended,
Where can we go to find the strength
To valiantly keep on trying?
Where can we find the hand that will dry
The tears that the heart is crying?
There's but one place to go and that is to God,
And dropping all pretense and pride,
We can pour out our problems without restraint
And gain strength with Him at our side.
And together we stand at life's crossroads
And view what we think is the end,
But God has a much bigger ivsion,
And He tells us it's only a bend,
For the road goes on and is smoother,
And the pause in the song is a rest,
And the part that's unsung and unfinished
Is the sweetest and richest and best.
So rest and relax and grow stronger,
Let go and let God share your load,
Your work is not finished or ended,
You've just come to a bend in the road.
