Rest in peace brother.

My heart goes out to the family, friends, and co-workers. It is so horrible to have lost one fellow officer, husband, father, son and brother but to have lost two is even worse. Keep in mind you are not alone and that they are both in a better place. For whatever reason God must have needed the service of these two men and they will always be in your hearts and spirits. God Bless you all.

To the White family and the Phoenix Police Deapratment,
I wanted to extend my deepest apologies and condolence I understand the feelings of pain and sorrow you are all going through it hurts deeply to lose a brother in blue as well as a family member to his wife and 2 children I can only sit in my home and pray that their was something I could do to ease your pain we just lost an officer here ourselves and it hurt but by losing several members of my own family I can relate to that pain aswell and it is not only sad that a good man was killed but also that a mother and father lost a son, possibly a brother or sister lost a brother,a wife lost a husband and more sadly and maybe yet more importantly 2 children lost their dad again to the family and the whole department I am truely sorry and I do not know if it will help any but sometimes can relieve the pain just knowing that on that saturday God called home and angel one of his children perhaps there was a stronger need for Eric there to patrol the streets of heaven maybe God thought he could look after a small child there that had no parents and was born abandoned and needed some extra love maybe he noticed that Eric has a family member up there that he just felt he could no longer live without either way you can be sure he is home now he is resting he is protecting small children above and he is now watching over all of you who are still here but will one day see him again God Bless you all

Eric,

I had the honor of working with you when we were assigned to the Maryvale Precinct. The few months I was able to work with you was a pleasure. You showed such great skills, ability to deal with people and show your prestige and brilliance in tactical situations that made me amazed. How an officer with such little time on could act so experienced.

You will be missed by many brothers and sisters throughout this world, but I will remember you for your honor, courage and bravery.

My heart and prayers go out to the family of Eric... especially his wife. I am the wife of a phx officer and I know what it is like to wonder if your husband will come home at night. In this terrible time of tragedy please take comfort in knowing that because of Eric, and men and women like him, our citizens can lead a safe life. On behalf of all the Phoenix Police Dept and their loved ones... Deepest Condolences. Eric is now one of the great heroes. Rest in peace.

It is lovely indeed, it is lovely indeed.
I, I am the spirit within the earth ...
The feet of the earth are my feet ...
The legs of the earth are my legs ...
The bodily strength of the earth is my strength ...
The thoughts of the earth are my thoughts ...
The voice of the earth is my voice ...
The feather of the earth is my feather ...
All that belongs to the earth belongs to me ...
All that surrounds the earth surrounds me ...
I, I am the sacred words of the earth ...
It is lovely indeed, it is lovely indeed.

Pride Integrity and Guts

Some of you may know my face, but not my name. Most of you have seen me around the city and some have even met me, but not always under the best of circumstances. Some of you have even spoken to me on the phone, when you called me while I was working.

Most of you have an opinion on how my job should be done, but would never take my job if it was the last one on earth. And some of you who don't even know me, hate me because of my job. But when I go to my job, I go to make a difference and so I can fight what everyone else fears.

When most would be running away from danger, my job requires me to run towards it. I do this in the hopes of making a difference for someone else I don't even know. Most people say I make too much money, because my pay is published in the newspaper. But don't think twice about hearing about another sports player sign a 20 million dollar contract for 6 months a year of playing a "game."

Since my job's base pay isn't the best I must work extra to pay the bills. Including working extra shifts on holidays, and pick up side work at construction sites as well on my days off, most still complain thinking I am greedy, but don't they realize that I to must pay taxes, have a mortgage car payments and kids in collage as well?

Don't they understand that I am not paid for what I do, but for what I am willing to do for them? After all how can you properly compensate someone to risk their own life and face danger everyday they go to work?

And when I go to work I am punched, kicked, spit on and called every name in the book for doing my job. And every night I leave my house to go to work I realize I may not come back home in the morning. Because when I go to work I can be stabbed, shot, drown, fall, be electrocuted, or die in a car accident rushing to help you.

My job also requires me to carry special "tools" to help me do my job. Sometimes even while doing my job I have to defend myself from someone attacking me. Although, the newspapers will report to you that I "beat someone down", and not that I defended myself from an attack.

While at work I must also carry a gun to protect you, but should I have to use it, the media reports to you that I "gunned someone down" or that I "shot and killed" somebody, and not that I defended myself. Don't they realize that I shoot to live and never to kill?

Also when I go to work I wrap a protective vest around me to help keep me safe through my shift. I use this vest so that I will be allowed to live to the end of my work day. And hope and pray that should something bad happen that this vest helps keep me alive so that I will be allowed to see my children grow.

When I go to my job, I will see more pain, sorrow, agony, death and destruction in one month than most of you will see in an entire lifetime.

And to the ones who don't know me, I unforunetly will meet most of you at the worst times in your life.

You often will call me to come help you out with a problem. But if you have a really big problem you can get me at a special 3 digit number and me and my coworkers will race to your house, just to help you no questions asked. All you have to do is call and we will be there for you, no matter what time, day, night or holiday, rain shine or blizzard.

Sometimes my job also requires me to deliver lectures, babies and even bad news. I am also the one required to ring your doorbell in the middle of the night, swallow hard and advise you that a loved one will not be coming home tonight, then I spend the rest of my shift wondering why I ever took such a job.

Some people even refer to me as a "pig," but when I hear that word called to me or one of my coworkers I think of Pride, Integrity and Guts, which everyone in my profession needs to do this job.

Me and my coworkers must be able to have muscles of steel, have a sense of humor and put ourselves into dangerous situations and face danger head on all in a days work.

We must act in a second and make a decision in the blink of an eye, and spend the rest of our life hoping we made the right choice in that split second. If not we can be arrested and charged with breaking a law, be sued for violating someone's rights, or end up with even a worse fate.

My job requires me to take an oath to be their and to risk my life to protect you. And it is an oath that me and my fellow coworkers have taken and is one that we will not break.

What, you ask is my job, I am your local police officer. And what do I ask in return of doing all this and risking my life for you, nothing at all because it is my job and my hope, of being the one who makes the difference.

Family, friends, and co-workers of Officer White:

Another brave officer was taken from his watch too soon. It is apparent to me that Eric served his county and community with pride, bravery, and integrity. Eric will be greatly missed.

Although I never knew Eric, his taking affects all of us that kiss our families good-bye and leave our residences to go to work. We just never know exactly what will happen during our watch.

My family's thoughts and prayers are with Eric's family in this time of need. Please rest assured that Eric will never be forgotten. To the members of the Phoenix PD, you have lost a great officer. We are very sorry for your loss.

Eric, rest in peace. I find comfort in knowing that I now have another angel watching over me. Thank you.

I met Eric back in '99' when I first started with Superior Court. (I worked in IA Court @ Madison St. Jail)
He was alwas very cordial in the horseshoe and was a great help with my work. When he left the Sherrif's Office for Phx PD I was saddened, until I learned he was patroling the Maryvale district( where I used to live)... My children loved it when he would stop by my residence in his patrol car to make sure we were safe and sound...
Eric spoke of Collene and the children often, as well as his landscaping business that he was very estatic of...
Eric was of great comfort to me when my own mother passed last year and he was greatly excited of going back to Chicago bacause his own father was retiring from the force there... Eric was soooo proud. He wanted to be just like his father...
Erice was one of the FEW people I contacted to help me land my new job here in California.( I GOT THE JOB!!!)

Eric is AND was a very good friend and I and truly devistated learning of his demise. My children and I will miss Officer Eric White greatly...
