Reflections for Detective Todd Michael Fatta
Detective Fatta and family, it is with heartfelt thanks to you that I write. Law Enforcement is dangerous, and yet you served, you gave the ultimate in trying to protect the citizens of Broward County against the worst of the worst type of offenders. My heartfelt sympathies go to your immediate family as well as your Law Enforcement family. I observed your procession today going down Broward Blvd, as a small token of my appreciation for The Ultimate Sacrifice that you gave. I pray for your family and know that you are watching over the citizens of Broward from above. Please know that the Lord needed another Deputy to help patrol the streets of heaven, so He took the best of the Best.
To the family of Detective Fatta, my prayers are with you in this terrible time of pain that you are going through, and know that I, for one am grateful of the service your son and brother provided to me, as a resident of Borward County.
Just remember, greater love hath no man than he whp lays down his life for another. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time and in the future.
THANK YOU AGAIN DETECTIVE FATTA, you will NOT be forgotton.

a grateful Broward County citizen

The day of your birth brought joy to many. The day of your death brought deep sadness to many more. But the days of your life touched untold numbers of people who will never be the same. Your life brought honor to your parents, your family, and certainly to the Broward County S.O. family. We, here, two counties north of you, at Martin County Sheriff's Office, honor your life and mourn your death. May God grant you His grace and mercy is our prayer.

You served your county, state, and country with pride. I am sure all of the BSO will now hold your name with the greatest honor. Although I do not know you, we are brothers alike. I will also hold your name with pride as I continue to serve knowing that you gave your life doing something you love. You will never have to worry about your family as I am sure they are in the greatest of hands of family and friends. You will be missed.
GOD SPEED BROTHER.

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Todd did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Todd be the last to die this way.
Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Detective Fatta's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you.
Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Todd is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Todd was well respected and well loved.
Thank you Detective Fatta for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiance Dennis for me.
Peace, Love, Luck, Health, and Happiness!

Although we never met we were brothers of the thin blue line. I heard of your untimely passing from someone that lived under the protection that you provided and thought enough of you that they wanted to let me know. This meant alot to me as this person holds police in the highest regard. To your family that you leave behind, my heart felt sorrow and you will be in my prayers. Rest in peace my brother as you are now in a better place.

When word went out on the news that two BSO deputies had been shot, my heart dropped and I could barely breathe. When I heard your name and saw your face, you were not someone that I knew, but now your face is forever etched in my mind and your name will forever be in my heart. Another fallen angel who was taken way to soon. You will never be forgotten by your fellow officers and their families. I pray for your family and for the safety of my husband and all of the men and women with the Broward County Sheriff's Office and in law enforcement everywhere. Todd, you will truly be missed.
