Reflections for Police Officer Michael Patrick Gordon
Dear Mike...They say better late than never...so although I missed the 15th Year Remembrance Day...I will be praying for you...and your family...at mass tomorrow.
Keep watching over your family...and rest peacefully...knowing you are loved and missed...by each of them.
God Bless You...

Officer Gordon, know that you are not forgotten, may you continue to rest in peace and continue your watch on the streets of gold. I bet you were just like your dad, he is such a good person and always knows when to send an email and what to say. Walk beside your children and parents as they continue without you, but remember you are forever in their thoughts and hear.

It pains me to know how you were taken from your family. I first heard of you when I took DUI lessons at the academy years ago. God bless you and your family. I hope that you and all the other fallen officers are watching over us, for its getting so much harder to do this job as each day passes.

Mike, It's been 15 years but to me it seems so much longer. A lot of things are different and the world is different. I don't think you would like it very much.
They had a memorial for you at the Police Academy yesterday that would have made you proud. Family, friends and the brass.
Love and miss you forever.

Mike, 15 years have passed and I know you will never be forgotten. They held a large memorial yesterday at the Academy in your honor. Over 100 Cadets were in formation along with senior brass and officers. Saw a number of your friends that you worked with also there showing support for us. You will never be forgotten. Please continue watching over the family for me and also your brothers and sisters in blue. Love you always. Dad

I cannot believe it is 15 years you are gone. You were a great jump out boy and one I was happy to supervise. I think about you often and wonder where you would have gone in the CPD

I cannot believe it is going to be 15 years tomorrow. I think of you, one of my jump out boys often. I remember getting the news and the shock I felt. Gone way too soon.

This past Sunday was our annual Cubs Rooftop Fundraiser for your Foundation. I know there are rain outs, well ours was a Snow Out with 5". There may have not been a game but the party went on. Your supporters were there celebrating with food and spirits. A number of people you worked with on the street were there. Even two people who knew you from the Army, one serving with you in Bosnia and the other from Ft. Bragg. Even though there was no game and the snow was like a blizzard, it was a big success. We love and miss you every day. Continue to keep watch on everyone for me.
Love,
Dad

Your son turned 20 today. So not fair that he grew up without you in his life. He is a clone of you and looks exactly like you. It will be 15 years in 4 months, but it seems like a lifetime since our last goodbye and me telling you to be safe out there and your answer would be "Always." Miss you ever day. Please keep watch over the family for me.

Hi Mike. Celebrated your niece's 14th Birthday today. She never met you as she was born after we lost you. Of course we talked about you at the dining room table and the things you and your two brothers did as kids and teenagers to drive me and your mother crazy. It will be 15 years in 5 months. Losing you has taken its toll on us, physically and mentally. It didn't have to happen and shouldn't have. I read somewhere that when you lose your parents you are called an orphan. If you lose a wife or husband you are called a widow or widower. When you lose a child it is so horrible that we do not have a word for it. How true. Love and miss you every day. Keep watch over everyone for me.
Love,
Dad

I left a reflection on Christmas Night, I must have done something wrong as it didn't make it here so I'll try again. Was our 15th Christmas without you being with us. I still remember you playing video games with the kids and you never liked to be video taped. I have very little footage of you as you were always camera shy. Been a long road without you with us. You children have grown up, but continue to keep watch over them. Cullen is a clone of you. Everyone that sees him says he is your twin. He is taller than you and you were 6'5. Love and miss you everyday. We will never let you be forgotten.
Love,
Dad

Hi Officer Gordon,
I never met you but my father is CPD (out of 011) and I’m positive he knew you. He keeps your picture in his uniform hat. After you passed, every year we would visit your grave and leave something, like a Monster drink, on your headstone. We haven’t been in a few years but I will tell my father that we should visit soon! You will never be forgotten! Rest in peace hero!

Hi Mike, miss you every day. Your two sons are practically grown men. One is 6'6" the other is 6'7". Both love playing Rugby. Don't know where they got that from. They are doing well in College and I know you would be proud of them both. Each day I wake up is a gift for me, I'd trade places with you in a heart beat so you could be here for your family. So not fair to you that your life was cut short as it didn't have to happen. You take care. Keep watch over everyone for me. Love and miss you every day. Not a day goes by I don't think of you. Love. The day has arrived, 14 years without hearing that funny laugh of yours. Also miss your stories and practical jokes. A day has not passed that you were not in my thoughts. You have not been forgotten as my Facebook page is filled with tributes to you from family and friends. Later when I go out to the cemetery I know there will be articles left at your grave site. We all love and miss you. Please watch over the family for me.

The anniversary of your death draws closer I am reminded of the sacrifices those in law enforcement make doing the job they love. Not only sacrificing your life for your brothers and sisters in blue, but also sacrificing so many holidays working instead of with your families. Although I have never met you I know of you because of the kind words of your dad. I see that he leaves so many reflections for so many officers. Unfortunately he understands how it is to lose someone you love in the line of duty. But he keeps your memory alive, not only in the words he leaves for you here, but with the kind words that he leaves for others. Rest easy brave soul. Though you are missed dearly, your sacrifice, and that of your family has not gone unnoticed. Thank you and your family for their service.

Had your nephew Alec's 8th grade graduation party yesterday. He only knows you from what we have told him. He was 7 months old when we lost you. Time has passed so quickly when you look back, but not as you live through each day. Soon it will be 14 years and it feels like a lifetime. Not a day goes bye that you are not in my thoughts, miss you. Please keep watch over everyone for me.

Memorial Day weekend is here and all the war movies will be on all weekend. How you loved to watch them all. One of your dreams, besides being a police officer since you were very young, was to be a soldier. I think of all the times you would talk me in to taking you to the military stores and you would buy patches and ribbons. I even found you and old Marine trunk that you were so excited about when I brought it home. All your collectables are still in that chest. Even after almost 14 years I still have tears as you are truly missed. Keep watch over the family for me as I'm starting to slow down with age. Losing you took a toll on me. Love and miss you every day.
Love,
Dad
