Reflections for Police Officer Michael Patrick Gordon

Happy St. Patricks's Day. Today is one of your favorite days, you always loved being Irish. Oh, and Scottish and Italian. I think the Irish was your favorite. You would go with your brothers and Mom and I would worry about the three of you out on the town. You would always look out for one another and that's what was so hard when we lost you, none of us could do anything. I'd trade places with you in a heartbeat if I could so that you could be with your brothers and children. Take care and watch over everyone for me. Miss you and think about you always.

Love,
Dad

Mike, Today is your birthday which used to be a joyous occasion for your Dad and I and is now sad because you are gone.

Went to the cemetery today in below zero weather to put something on your grave. I should have waited till tomorrow as I have been sick all week. We needed a shovel, broom and ice chipper before we found it.

Love & miss you.

It has been awhile since I have been on and left a reflection, however, I think of you and all the heroes who have given their all for us each and everyday. Time has just flown by, but our hearts are still heavy with the loss of our babies. Continue to rest in peace. I also want you to know that your dad holds a special place in my life, he is always there when needed, just when you need something there it is an email with a song or just beautiful words. I am sure you were just like him. You will never be forgotten.

Mike, Thinking of you today with fond and loving memories. Remembering how you would eat the legs of the turkey and Gram Gordon the wings - no one else cared for them.

Happy Thanksgiving Mike. Waiting for everyone to show for dinner. Holidays just aren't the same without you here with us. I know you would be in the bedroom with the kids playing play station or x box. Your son turned out to be a gamer like you. Wonder where he got if from? Please watch over everyone for me. We love and miss you.

Mike, A few days ago one of the painted horse statues was dedicated to you. The paintings on the horse so depicted your life that when your Dad was giving his interview and watched the unveiling, he said he held back his tears. The horse was painted by a CPD officer and we thank him for his talent.

The painted horses are now donning Chicago in various areas of the city and are dedicated to fallen police officers and those catastrophically injured. Never Forgotten.

Love, Mom

Michael,
We lost you 10 years ago and have never forgotten you. Last night at the CPD Memorial we had a gathering of all your family and close friends to pay tribute to you. Was comforting to see the guys you worked with in the 11th District, they haven't forgotten you. Please keep watch over the family for me and know we will never let your memory die. Love and miss you.

Love,
Dad

Mike, It's been 10 years since that awful phone call we received telling us you were gone. It still seems surreal to your Dad and I.

You were honored at the CP Memorial today with about 100 people in attendance. Your brother John spoke about your Foundation and about the Michael Gordon Law that was passed and how much you are missed.

Your partner Mario and a lot of the officers who were and some who still are in 11 were there. Michael stories were talked about and what a dedicated police officer you were. The bag pipers played your favorite as usual "Amazing Grace".

I don't think your Dad and I have fully accepted the loss of you - then I think what parent could.

Look after your children and the rest of the family.

Miss and love you.

Mike, Tomorrow is the Ride to Remember where hundreds of motorcycles, many of them police officers, will drive in a motorcade to honor the Fallen and end the ride at the CP Memorial.

Please watch over all the riders, including your brother Bob & Kristy, and let them be safe during and after the ride.

Also, watch over your son Cullen who left on a ferry ride today to get to Isle Royale in Michigan. Let him have a safe and healthy camping trip the next 2 weeks. He has definitely followed in your footsteps regarding camping and the outdoors. This is his 3rd year at Camp Manito Wish, WI in which he has advanced to higher levels of camping.

Love and miss you always.
