A first class man from a family full of first class people.

I did not know Michael as well as I know his brother Bob, (Broadview Il PD), but the little I knew of Mike was that he was a fine American killed senselessly.

My family and I mourn the death of Officer Gordon and we are there for the family for anything.

I only saw you once and that was in court. I heard you testify on numerous cases and knew you were the "REAL POLICE." You gave the ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of this city. Your wife and children must know that YOU are a true AMERICAN HERO. May GOD have mercy on your soul and may you family be richly blessed forever. Thank you OFFICER GORDON.

I remember one time I was on my ride along with the Explorers, and I saw Mike sitting in the parking lot eating his sausage biscuits. The last words that Gordon said to me were "You da man." I am very proud to have known him. I have never met such a strong man as him. I have really enjoyed knowing his dad for many many years, and I really enjoyed meeting his wife yesterday. Sincerely,
A family friend,
Ben

P.S. I am very very sorry for your tragedy.

To all Family, Friends, and Co Workers of this Officer:

On Behalf of myself, and the Family of Police Officer Daniel Starks (Ft Myers Fl, E/O/W 10-25-03) we want you to know that you are all in our prayers! The Lord will sustain you as you go through this difficult, and trying time, but just remember your loved one is being cared for in Heaven, and is now eternally safe. We hope that you all remain as strong as possible, and know that we are all thinking of you. No words are quite ever adequate, but Police Officers make the ultimate sacrifice everyday, and our hope, and prayer is that they will always be remembered for their heroic efforts, and kind hearts.
Blessings Always,

Ralph Waldo Emerson said on heroes, "The characteristic of genuine heroism is its persistency. All men have wandering impulses, fits and starts of generosity. But when you have resolved to be great, you abide by yourself, and do not try to reconcile yourself with the world." May the Lord be with you and your family while you keep watch with the rest of our heroes in blue.

Mike, you were the best! I remember the first time I met you-you owned the room with your larger than life personality and passion for everything. We will all miss you so much and we promise never to forget. Your parents are missing their baby-their son with whom there was never a dull moment! We all loved you Mike.
