Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Michael Patrick Gordon

Dear Mike...I couldn't light a virtual candle for my brother...without lighting one for you too...on this 30th Annual Candlelight Vigil of the NLEOMF. So know that I did...and that you are not forgotten by me.

As you keep watch over your dear family...may God bless you...with peaceful rest in His perpetual light.

You and your family...are remembered in my prayers...always.

Haven't been here in awhile, but I think of you every day and through out the day. Like today, I was looking for something in the garage and I opened a bin and there was the little baseball glove and ball you bought your son not long before you were killed. It was his first glove and ball. I saved them and want to eventually place it into a shadow box for him. I would have gladly traded places with you so you could have been here to see your children grow up, so unfair. Please watch over everyone for me, love and think of you all the time.

Love,
Dad

Dear Michael…You are in my thoughts and prayers... especially on this "Thirteen Years" Remembrance Day.

I know you are loved…thought about…and are missed…by your parents…siblings…and your children…each and every day.

God bless you…and your dear family...as you keep close watch over them.

Rest peacefully...knowing that...You are not forgotten!

Mike,
Here we are on your EOW date, doesn't get any easier as time goes on. My Facebook page is alive with postings and photographs of you and friends that have stopped in to pay their respects. I went to the cemetery with Mom and there was a bunch of empty Guinness Beer bottles on your marker, but also One left for you with a Shot of Jameson Scotch. Flowers left as they are every year from the First Watch at the 11th District. A Cup of Coffee from Krullman who stopped by. You have not been forgotten by those that love you and care about all of us. Please keep watch on your Children, protect them from harm. Also your two brothers and your Mom. Love and miss you.

.Love,
Dad

Mike, We had your 13th Cubs Roof Raiser - fun was had by all. Cubs won 13 - 6 which means that all 13 roof raisers have been a win for the Cubbies.

The Pufpaf cousins were there in force, both your sons and of course it was another sold out event. A little different now that the Cubs bought out most of the Roofs in the area. People had to be scanned, bags looked in and no guns. John had to take the guns, of the police that were there, to the Firehouse on the corner.

The highlight for Dad was when Brian Kramer gave him a Cubs World Series ring. He wore it the whole event and will now put it on your memorial table.

Love and miss you. Mom

Dear Mike, Your son Cullen went to his prom this past Saturday - 25 years after you went to yours. He looked very handsome in his tux.

The prom was at Navy Pier and the after party was held on the boat Odyssey. The same boat you were on all those years ago. He said he had the time of his life.

Now on to graduation in a couple of weeks and then to college in the fall.

Watch over your children and rest of the family.

Love and miss you forever. Mom

Happy Birthday Mike, miss you every day. If I saved all the tears I've cried over the last 12 1/2 years since we lost you, we would have a nice pond that we could be sitting next to with a cold beer and listening to you telling us one of your great stories and making us all laugh. Please keep watch over everyone for me.

Love,
Dad

Happy Birthday, my son, know that you are loved and missed by your family everyday.

Dear Mike, As we celebrated Xmas Eve with the family, of course your name came up and then your brothers started in with the stories. Laughs were had by all.

Your sons are now as tall as you were 6'5 and when I look at them I get a little misty wondering how things would have been had you been able to be here.

Watch over everyone. Love, Mom

They did it and I know you were there, the Cubs are the World Champs. How you wanted that to happen, so unfair you weren't here to see it all happen. We love and miss you every day. Please watch over everyone for me.

The Cubs won the pennant last night by beating the Dodgers. Last time they won was 1945. Hopefully, they can go on and beat the Indians and bring home a World Series. I know how much you loved the Cubbies and all the time you spent out in the Bleachers at Wrigley Field. I wish you could have been here to see it happen and I know you would be really teased your partner stones, the avid White Sox fan. We love and miss you every day. I can not tell you the void I have in my heart as no parent should ever outlive their children. Please watch over everyone for me and also the Cubbies too. Love and miss you.

Love,
Dad
