Reflections for Police Officer Michael Patrick Gordon

Think of you every day and have for the past 20 years and I know I won't stop. All we can do is take one day at a time. It really hurts when you have someone in your heart every day and you can't hold them in your arms. Please continue to watch over your children especially your son who is on patrol following in your footsteps. We have not forgotten you.

Dear Michael..I 'm sorry that I missed the 20th Year Remembrance Day of your tragic loss to your family. I sent your Dad an email expressing my regret, but I don't know if the address I have for him is still in service. In any case, I pray that you are resting peacefully in God's perpetual light and His promise of eternal life. God bless you for being a loving son, brother, and father. My gratitude also, to your wonderful parents for being such thoughtful, caring and supportive people...over the many years, to so many of us who also have our loved ones remembered on this page, and too, for their kindness to me in understanding a shared grief...that of losing a son, much too young and much too soon.

Twenty years ago today we lost you, its been a long road without you. Aug 4th was the 20th Rooftop and the last we will have for your foundation. Was a success as always. Today was a Roll Call in your honor at the CPD Academy. The current class was out to honor you. Your sons spoke as did our Brother John and your Partner. A number of your friends from the 11th Dist were also in attendance. I tried to speak at the roof top and broke down at the end. Even after 20 years its still hard for me as it was such a waste to have you not raise your children and be here with all of us. Dont't know where you would be with your career right now, maybe a Detective like you always wanted. Be safe, love and miss you. Keep watch on your children and Mom too.

Happy Fathers Day Mike. Went to the cemetery to visit you and Grampa today for Fathers Day. Hard to believe you will be gone 20 years in 2 months. Your brother has the 20th Cubs Rooftop coming up and it will be the last one. Its sold out like usual. We are all getting older and its allot of work. Your foundation will continue supporting families of fallen officers and other officers in need of assistance. Keep watch over your Mother and also your kids. Be sure you partner up with your son in Dallas, like you he's working a rough area. Miss you.

Today is Memorial Day, thinking about you all day. Wish I could have asked more questions about Bosnia and Korea. Was out at the cemetery today cleaning up your grave, I have to say its the best looking one in the Vets Section. Please keep watch on your children also the rest of the family. Miss you every day. August will be the Cubs Rooftop, our last one and the 20th since your passing. Allot of work and was worth it to keep your Foundation running. Love and miss you.

Dear Michael, I lit two candles at church during police week, one in memory of my brother's ultimate sacrifice, and the other one in your memory. Thank you too for your service in the military. God bless you as you keep watching over your parents, and your now grown up children. Rest peacefully in His light.

Dear Michael...I lit a candle in memory of your 50th Birthday yesterday, at my parish church, which is St. Michael's in Annadale, VA. I prayed that you are resting peacefully, in God's perpetual light, even while watching over your children, your dear parents, your brothers, and all of your Gordon family. God bless you, and know that you are not forgotten.

Hi Mike.
Made it through Memorial Day weekend. All the war movies were on, I know you loved watching them every year. August will be the 19th Annual Roof Top fundraiser at Wrigley Field. It sells out every year and I'm sure this year will be the same. Your two boys are out of college and on their own. Your two brothers kids are in college now, all grown up. Your daughter who was 6 months old when we lost you is all grown up and in Art School. Sure didn't get her talent from me. Miss you every day. I would have changed places with you in a minute so that you could have raised your 3 children. Think of you every day, miss you every day, Watch over everyone for me. Love, Dad

Dear Mike, Sorry this is a day late but wanted to wish you a Happy 49th Birthday. Dad and I made our usual trip to the cemetery to place a flower and say a few words to you. I placed a video of you on FB that Dad received from Riverside PD. You were booking a DUI and just to hear your voice again was actually soothing to me and sad at the same time. You were actually very nice to the man being charged and it touched my heart. Your son graduated from the Dallas Police Academy on 1/27, I know you would have been proud. Dad and I wish he had taken a different path with his Environmental Degree from OU but that apparently wasnt where his heart was. Watch over him and let him make the right choices in his career. Also watch over Malik and Gracie and help them in their future endeavors and also the rest of our family. ...... your Brothers, their spouses and your nephews & nieces. We love and miss you. Mom

Was waiting for the right time to write this. I finally earned my badge and proudly wear it on my chest everyday I go to work. There are plenty of milestones I wish I could tell you about but I know you are watching from above. Please keep looking after all your brothers and sisters in LE, who chose to follow a lifestyle so few take yet so many have opinions about. Love you and hope to keep making you proud.

Your son graduated the police academy down in Texas and is now on patrol. He is the 3rd generation in the family working in law enforcement. Please watch over him. CPD Officers you worked with, including your partner, traveled down as did your two brothers me and Mom to give him support. We had a good size contingent to cheer him on. Watch over everyone for me, especially your son.

Love,
Dad

Merry Christmas Mike. Was with your two brothers and their families last night. Your niece and nephews really don't remember you, so I tell stories about you and your brothers when you were younger. Miss you every day. Please keep watch over all of them and your children. You will never be forgotten. Love, Dad

Dear Mike, we were at your brother Bob's for Xmas Eve yesterday where we gathered for the holiday with the Gordon Clan. Your nephews and nieces are getting big, some already in college. Your sons are out of state living their lives in this crazy world we are trying to live in. Watch over all of them for us as Dad and I are getting older and not in the best of health. You have been loved and missed everyday since you passed 18 years ago. Love, Mom
