Reflections for Sergeant Bradley W. Crawford
I graduated with Brad from the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1986. He was with Flagstaff AZ PD then. May you rest in peace brother...

As you all have heard Brad, was an amazing man. His commitment to God, family and job was one that would be rarely matched. We (his family) have been blessed in knowing him. Brad was the father to my wife and one of my best friends, two things that rarely occur in this world today.
I know I speak for everyone when I say, thank you for all your words, prayers and support.
Brad will be sorely missed.
Ryan Newton. Son in law to Brad Crawford

I heard of Brad's unfortunate passing late, due to my current deployment overseas. I was very saddened to hear the news and even more saddened I would not be able to attend the memorial to pay my respects.
During my two years as a Clark County Sheriff’s Dept. Cadet, I cannot remember a time that Sgt. Crawford did not have a smile on his face when he came into the office. Brad loved his job and you could tell that even given the unpleasantness this line of work often dishes out, he looked forward to his duty everyday. Brad was one of the first couple of people that I told when my current department hired me on, and it seemed that Brad was just about as excited as I was.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all at Clark County who knew and loved Sgt Crawford. He will be missed greatly, for he was a good man and a true credit to his profession.

TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER : O, gentle Lord! Keep the day / night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent on me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think that no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. ** REST IN PEACE** Sent to you by the father of Master Officer J.D.Koeppen, Capital City Raleigh NC; Trooper D.C. Koeppen, NJ State Police and Cadet Officer A.M. Koeppen Wilmington N.C.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).
Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend. Deputy Jeffrey Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.
We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.
These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

I HAVE TO ADMIT, I WAS HIT WITH DISBELIEF WHEN I SAW BRAD'S NAME ON THE OFFICER DOWN PAGE. BRAD AND I WENT THROUGH THE ARIZONA POLICE ACADEMY TOGETHER. I WAS AMAZED BY A MAN WHO HAD LEFT THE L.A.P.D. TO COME TO AZ. TO WORK IN FLAGSTAFF. A MAN THAT HAD GONE THROUGH A VERY TOUGH ACADEMY TO GO THROUGH ANOTHER ACADEMY AGAIN. HIS REASONING WAS SIMPLE...A SAFER, NICER, AND QUIETER ENVIRONMENT FOR HIS FAMILY. THAT PROVED TO ME HOW MUCH HIS FAMILY MEANT TO HIM. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU, BRAD, AS THE GUY WHO GAVE ME ENCOURAGEMENT WHEN I WANTED TO QUIT. THE GUY WHO SMILED AND ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF LIFE. YOU WERE A MAN WHO ENJOYED THE "JOB" YOU HAD CHOSEN. I WILL ALWAYS ADMIRE YOU AND RESPECT YOU. AND I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU.

HE ANSWERED THE CALL
(Sergeant Brad Crawford; Clark County Sheriff’s Dept.)
He wore the badge proudly.
It was his job, his calling.
Sergeant Crawford was a true warrior
who served God and his fellow man with wisdom,
without negative words for the demands of his work.
He was a quiet hero, protecting us,
a husband, father, grandfather,
whose prayers are still at work today,
following us in the long night hours.
He was a role model we admired and a true friend,
always there to listen, to uplift, to pray.
He was a friend of God, willing to be of service.
And I believe God called him that day.
We could not have known the moment,
or seen the angelic host gathering,
but Brad answered the call from heaven this time,
his work on earth complete.
Promoted to patrolling the heavens now…
we’ll miss you.
Rest easy. Well done.

I never met Sgt. Crawford, but I feel as if I had. The way in which the Deputies and Officers speak of him causes me to firmly believe that he was truly a man of his convictions. In the words of Brad's Pastor at the memorial service "Brad always left law enforcement better than he found it". I pray that our Heavenly Father will bless his family and help all of us to understand why this good man was taken. We were very fortunate to have someone like Sgt. Crawford representing the law enforcement community!

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.
To the family of Sgt. Brad Crawford and the Clark County Sheriff's Department, your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieves with you during this time. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around each of you and comfort you during this most difficult time.
You gave the ultimate sacrifice for your fellow man, your life.
While serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.
Rest easy with our other fallen Brothers and Sisters, we have the watch now.
To all my brothers and sisters, please remember the fallen officers we have lost and their families. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Please pray for this officer's family, agency, and friends as they struggle with this tragedy.
May God be with you every day, please remember, we are a part of the largest family in the world and when one hurts we all hurt.
Though our badges and uniforms may be different, our mission is the same. We continue the fight in your honor.
