Reflections for Police Officer Christy Jo Dedman
God bless you and your family. A very close friend of mine(Trooper A.G. Cogdill)was killed last year in a very similar incident. The truck driver was positive for cocaine after running over Anthony's patrol car with him in it. The sense of loss will never go away but time does make it easier to live with. My family will be praying for yours.

To the family and friends of Officer Dedman, I'm sorry for your loss and know that you will be in my prayers.
Officer Dedman, will be remembered...
-by the laughter of your friends, as they recall your spirit and share your stories.
-by your family - as they slowly move past their grief to remember with joy their special times with you.
And you will be remembered by your brothers and sisters in blue, whether they worked with you or not. They will continue - in your memory - to walk the streets proudly on earth, as you walk the streets of heaven.
Rest in peace - we will meet again.

I was driving back to Nashville when I heard the news on the radio. I called a friend who told me what happend and my heart sank that we lost a sister. Christy and I never directly worked together, but we did work out of the same sector for a short time and always remember her as being very positive. Christy, you will be missed and my family prays for you and your family.
As Police Officers we share a bond that some will never know, we will say hi in the parking lot, wave as we pass each other in our cars and watch each others backs on calls, but come to realize when one of our brothers or sisters is taken that we sould have taken more time to know each other better. Christy, you lost your life helping a citizen... the ultimate sacrifice. You will be missed by all. Now, be at peace, join all of the fallen Brothers and Sisters in Heaven.

Christy I thank you for all you were. On Friday you came and searched a female for me. I called you later and thanked you for coming and you told me call me anytime. Monday before roll call we talked and laughed. I heared the call go out and came to you as fast as I could, when I got there I felt completely helpless. You will always be a hero in my eyes. You will always be a sister in my heart. I know your family is very proud of you and I thank them for giving you to us. You will not be forgotten.
God bless and God speed

In loving memory of P.O. Christy Dedman: What started out as a
normal day ended so tragically. Thank you for your selfless service of less than one year and your ultimate sacrifice. It is a long road to healing that lies ahead, but I know that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will extend His mercy and comfort to all who reach out to Him. There is none greater than He. We don't get to Heaven based on what we do,
but because He died on the cross to
pay the penalty for our sin. AMEN! There is now a huge void that cannot be filled. God be with all those who mourn and may His promises lift all those with heavy hearts for many years to come. I found this poem on another's site and wanted to share it.
We may never understand it,
the risks these brave ones take,
but occasionally we see a bit
of the difference their lives make.
Some do it for the action,
others find it a callin'.
All find the satisfaction,
and few become the fallen.
Being an officer is what he loved,
To him as good as it gets.
Law was what he dreamed of,
He would have no regrets.
And though it saddens all of us
to lose him in this way
He knew how an officer must
Live life to the fullest everyday.
You are in my thoughts. If only I could erase your pain...from one coast of America to the other,

I just wanted to let the family of this special officer know that there are other officers that care, and are praying sincerely for Officer Dedman, the family and close friends. I recently lost a former Patrol Sgt. from the Buncombe County Sheriffs Office (North Carolina)that was one of my personal heroes. I am sure that your feelings are similar to mine and many others. God is in charge, and has a reason for everything. We, of course, will not understand the reason why tragedies occur, but we have to "look at the Savior and not the Situation." I hope this will encourage your mind and heart, and know that you Officer Dedman, and the family, will be prayed for by me and millions of other fellow officers.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

To Christy's family - may God wrap you in His loving arms and give you the strength to carry on. It's only with His grace that the Ripp family has survived the past 2 1/2 years. Christy, like Candace, was performing a job that she loved.
