Mrs. Shea, unfortunately, I know all too well the pain you are feeling right now. My husband, of only 5 months, New Jersey State Trooper Bert Zimmerman, was also killed in the line of duty this year. My heart breaks for you and for your 2 children. Please know that your husband will be your new guardian angel. Although he is no longer physically with you, he is with you in your heart and in your memories. You will not hear me say "hes in a better place" because as surviving spouses, we think the "better place" is here on this earth with us. Being a state troopers wife is not easy, yet you always think "this wont happen to us, it only happens to other people". Sadly, we are living that reality. I know our husbands are together now protecting us and watching over us while they are patrolling the highways of heaven. Mrs Shea, you are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this most difficult time in your life.

To those I Love and Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, Let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it's time I traveled alone.
So grieve a while for if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart,
I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen wih your heart, you'll
Hear all of my love around you soft and clear
And when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and say,
"Welcome Home"
In memory of a great friend that we lost a little over a yr ago in the same way.

Corporal Shea it is people like you that make be want to be a police officer. I still have awhile to go but remembering you makes me want to do it even more. God Bless your family and the Delaware State Police. Delaware lost a great trooper. I know that I or any other future trooper could ever replace you but I can carry on your legacy. It is not how you died that made you a hero but how you lived.

To the familie of the officer, and his colleagues. I wish you all much strenght to get through this difficult periode in your lifes. The closer we were to the peron who died, the more pain we feel. But dont forget that time will take away the pain slowly, and leave you all only the good memories.
With deep respect.

To the family and friends of Corporal Shea, I'm sorry for your loss and know that you will be in my prayers.
Corporal Shea, will be remembered...
-by the laughter of your friends, as they recall your spirit and share your stories.
-by your wife, parents and family - as they slowly move past their grief to remember with joy their special times with you.
-and most importantly, in the living legacy that is your son and daughter.
And you will be remembered by your brothers and sisters in blue, whether they worked with you or not. They will continue - in your memory - to walk the streets proudly on earth, as you walk the streets of heaven.
Rest in peace - we will meet again.

It saddens me to learn of another Officer killed in the line of duty.
To the family of Corporal Shea my heart and prayers go out to you as you face this difficult and trying time. I myself have been in your shoes, four years ago to the day I lost a very good friend in the line of duty in a vehicle accident. I still remember that day, but as the days and the years pass I try to remember the good times that were had with him. This helps to ease the pain and the hurt. Your family will be in my prayers.

Chris, you will be sadly missed both as a friend and co-worker. There has never been a finer person then you, both on the job and with the family that you loved so much. As I look back to our Academy days, I cannot think of anyone that has inspired so many people and been there to help during any situation without question. You were the hardest working Trooper I know and the best father, husband and family member that a person could ask for. You died doing what you loved, and are truly a hero to us all. Rest in peace, brother.
