Dear Winder family and friends,

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Only cowards would shoot a police officer. I am glad one has been apprehended and look forward to hearing about the second one facing final justice too. Please take some comfort in two verses from the Bible: "Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted." Matt. 5:4 and "Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the Children of God." Matt. 5:9. God Bless.

Revelation 21:3-4 " And I heard a great voice out of Heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things have passed away."

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise, For our days,
'Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.

Brian,

Your funeral burns bright in my mind. Yet the moment you died and your funeral will not be what defined your life.

You will be remembered...

-by the laughter of your friends, as they recall your spirit and share your stories.

-by your wife, parents and family - as they slowly move past their grief to remember with joy their special times with you.

-and most importantly, in the living legacy that is your son's and daughter.

And you will be remembered by your brothers and sisters in blue, whether they worked with you or not. They will continue - in your memory - to walk the streets proudly on earth, as you walk the streets of heaven.

Rest in peace - we will meet again.
