Reflections for Police Officer Brian Donte Winder
Winder it has been two month since I lost you as a friend and a brother, however, it seems like yesturday...
I still remember our last conversation when you called to tell me about the scooters your where towing and get some additional information. As your dispatcher I gave you the information you needed and as a friend I told you be safe... My last words to you where be safe ....
Hours later I sat there and assisted you because you needed help ...But, It still does not seem real .... I know it happen but it is not real to me ... I vowed to you and your family like I do with other officers to keep you safe ...But, no matter how much I try you where not safe...
However, Now you are safe in the arms of the Lord. I pray every day that God strengthen me because it is hard to know I lost a friend...
Now you are safe in the arms of the Lord ...
I miss you

To Brian
I can't find the word's to express how I feel or how bad it hurt's. Every time I see you're name on a web page or picture around the house I get the same feeling again knot in my stomach and pain in my heart. When I close my eye's at night I still can hear the bag pipe's from you're funeral and you're major saying we are still out their. We cried all the way from baltimore back to jersey and the tear's still has not began to stop. I still can remember the look's in reggie and haneef face at you're funeral. IT could have been anyone of us including myself and this family would have still had to suffer this pain. Cuzz, It hurt's so so so so damn bad.I'll miss laughing and sharing stories with you face to face when I visit now you get to see all my stories.Cuzz, you have made this family so proud while you were awake and while you're asleep. we all are missing you, we love you so so so much you will alway's be in our thought's and heart's cuzz, you're work has been done. I love you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

B, we were partners, we had the same schedule, I saw you everyday 6 days a week. You were my first back and I was yours. I feel like I let you down because I was the first getting to you that night but I got to you too late. I'm hurting so much, and I miss you terribly. I'll see you again, best friend.

Brian,
Your beautiful smile will be missed but will be remembered. I saw you briefly at southwest where I worked when you returned to patrol. You have left a lasting and positive impression in my heart and I will always count it a blessing to say that I had the opportunity to actually meet this "ANGEL".
Thank you and blessings continuously for your family.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).
Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend. Deputy Jeffrey Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.
We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.
These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

Officer Winder, I did not know you, but I do know that left a huge impact on the city of Baltimore. In just a few weeks I will be starting the Academy to become a Baltimore City Police Officer. I can not wait. I grew up in Baltimore, just like you and want to protect the city that I grew up in. Your death has deeply touched this department. Yesterday, I watched the crowd along the streets grow, just so people could give you one more salute. I have not seen that many people before. Normally there are a few here and a few there, but the streets were packed this time. We will never forget you, or what you did for this city. Rest in Peace!!!
