To The Family, Friends and Fellow Officers of Michael Wise.

We feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of ours which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But we cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of people he died to protect. We pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

I sat here staring into space for the last week , trying to think of how to put into words what I'm thinking and feeling, and then I realized something...Its not possible.
Mike, you were and still are, a special part of a special group that I came on this job with, and I wouldn't trade those memories for anything...
A hero in a movie once said, "What we do in life, echoes in eternity." I cant think of a better example of that than the way you lived your life and did your job. We should all try to follow that example you set for us. I am very honored to have known you and called you my friend. May God bless Denise, Kendall, and the rest of your family.
Someday we will meet again, but until then, I say goodbye to you my brother, and may you rest in peace....

In January of 1996, I ventured to the City of Pittsburgh from our little town of Lebanon to attend the paramedic program. I was so fortunate to have been assigned Michael H. Wise,II as my mentor. Spending 6 months of my life with Mike are times that I will never forget. It brought me great pleasure to later work as a supervisor with Mike at First Aid and Safety Patrol.

I have learned so much from you Mike. There is so much of your paramedicine in me that I makes me often laugh in side. I will never forget those overnights in Pittsburgh!

I promise that Kendall will always know how awesome her father was, and the impact that you made on so many peoples lives. You are a true hero to us all. Your legacy will live forever! I know that you will look down on us and guide us through this valley we all walk through. God bless you Mike and your magnificent family.

Having family living in and around Reading, I try to keep up with the news from that area. It is tragic to hear that a fellow brother has fallen while making the ultimate sacrifice to protect his family, friends and the citizens of Reading, Pa.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Wise family, hoping they have the strength to get through the tragic time in their lives right now.
May Michael's daughter always know that her father was a brave man and sacrificed to ensure she lived in a safe community. May she always remember that Michael will always be watching over her in every travel she takes in life.

As the wife of an officer and the mother of a young daughter, my heart aches for your loss. On that same fateful day in Michigan, we too lost an officer in the line of duty. It is a horrible, senseless act of violence against those that have chosen to protect the community in which they patrol. Know now that we have angels in heaven watching over us, keeping other officers safe from these cowards that deem life so meaningless. May you find the strength to live on through all of your memories. We will never forget.

To Denise and the rest of the Wise Family. It all started on Jan. 21, 2002 when I first walked into our academy class. When I walked in the first person I saw was Mike and that unforgettable smile. "Wig" as our academy class began to know him as was always so happy and was the king of one liners throughout the six months we spent in the academy.

"Wig" was more than a co-worker to me he was someone who I could go to with any situation and he would help me get through that situation whether it was work related or a personal matter. Myself and the rest of the class are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to have met and spent so much time with "Wig".

On June 5, 2004 I lost not only a co-worker but a great friend who I grew so close to.

Thank you for serving and sacrificing for a city I am proud to call my hometown. My brother who works for R.P.D. told me about you and said you were a great husband, father, and officer. Although I have not lived in Reading for years, I return often to visit my brother. I rode with him for a shift last year and he showed me some of the challenges you faced everyday, and that night I gained a new respect for the job the Reading Police Department does. You have given the ultimate sacrifice and for this I am eternally grateful. May God bless you, your family, and the members of the Reading Police Department. To the Wise family, we grieve with you at the lose of Michael. Although many members of your family don’t know us we consider ourselves as part of your family. We knew Mike as not only a co worker but as a brother.

Mike will never be forgotten; not only for his work ethic and strong conviction of doing the right thing but for his unforgettable smile and quick wit. Mike is a hero not only for his actions the night that he fell but by the way he lived his life.

Rest In Peace My Brother. We will meet again.
