We just want to thank the Sterling Heights police for the great job that they do everyday. It takes a HERO to be able to go out everyday and put your life on the line for me and my family. For this we are greatful. We are truly sorry for the loss to the police department and to the family that office Mark Sawyer leaves behind. No words of comfort can be said. The only peace that can come of this is to have the DEATH PENALTY for COP KILLERS all across the country! Then justice will be served.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and the department. I feel a deep loss in my heart during this time. Mark, you brought happiness to the people you were around. You will be missed by many, but never forgotten. I never got the chance to meet you, however my wife was blessed to have met and worked with you at the department. I will continue to pray for you wife and family, and know that the Lord will watch over them and bless them as time goes on. I also know that you will watch down on your brothers and sisters in law enforcement, to ensure they will always have an angel by their side. Romans 13:1-4 says;
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority, resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgement on themselves. Rulers are not a teror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.
Mark, you were called by the Lord to serve and protect from evil, and you will be blessed in many ways for doing so. You have favor with the Lord and justice will be served against the monster that harmed you. I am so sorry that this took place. Take care brother, and know that we will always think of you.

Mark,
Tomorrow we will lay you to rest. I am at peace for you, but feel so much pain for your wife, daughter, family, police family and friends. I hope your family will find some comfort in knowing how many lifes you touched and how many people you will be missed by. You will always be in our thoughts and hearts. You live on through our memories. I know you are watching over us all.
It was an honor to work with you these past few months. I'm so sorry it came to such a tragic end. You will be so deeply missed. I hold all my memories of you so close to my heart.

Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
