Your heroism and service is honored today, the 84th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, and your memory will always be honored and revered

Officer Oscar Atkinson is an ancestor of mine by marriage. Through research with family members I was able to learn of him and have him added to the Officer Down Memorial Page and hopefully the Georgia state memorial as well as the national memorial in Washington, DC. I am happy that his sacrifice, duty, and service to his community is now known! Rest in peace, sir, until we meet one day in a far better place than this.
