No words could ever describe the shock I felt upon finding out about Shane's tragic and much too early death. I didn't hear about it until the night of his funeral when I saw the story on the local news at home in Knoxville, TN. My heart dropped when I saw his picture.

Here was the Shane Miller I went to South Columbus with. The one I sat with in Biology. The one I was friends with. And the one who had told me told me, about 10 years ago, about the Law Enforcement Explorers that Tabor City Police Department was starting up.

I was 16 when I got my first taste for Law Enforcement as an Explorer in Tabor. I thank Shane for that. It has led to a successful career for me and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I only wish Shane knew what impact that he had made.

I wish I would have known about his death before I did so that I could have been there to say good bye and say thank you. I just wish I had known so I could have been there.

Shane,
Thank you for being my friend, telling me about the Explorers, and for your ultimate sacrifice. I'm sorry I wasn't there to say good bye and thank you. I truly lost a brother. Rest in peace, my brother.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

I am currently enrolled in B.L.E.T. and one of our instructors said that he would never let a police officers death go in vain, and I also make that vow. He told us about this great web-site and made it an assignment to check it out. My condolences, hopes, and prayers go out to officer Miller's family, He gave his life doing what we all love to do, and that is serving our country and our fellow man. I commend Officer Miller for his years of service, and I know he will be justly rewarded.

Shane Miller was a Great guy.I had the pleasure of being one of his Basic Law Enforcement Training instructors. He always wore a smile on his face. He seemed very happy to be in the program and to be a part of the class. I will always remember him for his enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.

My prayers go out to the family of Officer Miller. There is no greater pain than to lose a loved one who was
doing their job to protect us. I know the terrible feeling you get when you receive that horrible call in the early morning hours that someone you love is not going to make it. We received a
call last July 29, 2003 about Officer
Kelli Lambert whom was engaged to my son. I still get sick when I think of that night. I know Kelli along with
Officer Miller are now in a better place with the Lord. They no longer have sadness and pain. I will continue
to pray for your family Officer Miller.
May you rest in peace.

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.

You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.

To the family of Patrolman Timothy Shane Miller and the Tabor City Police Department, your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieves with you during this time. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around each of you and comfort you during this most difficult time.

To all my brothers and sisters, please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Please pray for this officer's family, agency, and friends as they struggle with this tragedy.
May God be with you every day, please remember, we are a part of the largest family in the world and when one hurts we all hurt.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice for your fellow man, your life, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.
Rest easy with our other fallen Brothers and Sisters, we have the watch now. Though our badges and uniforms may be different, our mission is the same. We will continue the fight in your honor.

Florida Deputy Sheriff
