Dear Blyler Family and Friends,

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Once again, I am sadden to read about another fallen officer in Florida. We have lost too many this year. Please take some comfort in two verses from the Bible: "Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted." Matt. 5:4 and " Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the Children of God." God Bless.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).
Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend. Deputy Jeffrey Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.

I am saddened to see the name of another very young officer added to this list today. Deputy Blyler, You were too young to have to leave this earth.

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME,
MY NAME FOR ALL ETERNITY.
RECORDED HERE AT THIS HALLOWED PLACE,
ALAS, MY NAME, NO MORE MY FACE.
"IN THE LINE OF DUTY" I HEAR THEM SAY.
MY FAMILY NOW THE PRICE TO PAY.
MY FOLDED FLAG STAINED WITH THEIR TEARS,
WE ONLY HAD THOSE FEW SHORT YEARS.
THE BADGE NO LONGER ON MY CHEST,
I SLEEP NOW IN ETERNAL REST.
MY SWORD I PASS TO THOSE BEHIND,
AND PRAY THEY KEEP THIS THOUGHT IN MIND.
I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME,
AND WITH A HEAVY HEART AND BENDED KNEE,
I ASK FOR ALL HERE FROM THE PAST...

DEAR GOD LET MY NAME BE THE LAST.

Josh Blyler and Family,

Josh was only with the St Johns County Sheriffs Office Family for a short time, but he has left a legacy and emptiness in all of our hearts. As a Brother at the Sheriffs Office my heart is broke, but knowing the faith Josh had in the Lord, I know Josh is now my Guardian Angel and the Angel to all Officers. Josh you fought the fight and truly are a Hero. May God continue to bless your loved ones, like you blessed us. Until we are re-united on the streets of Heaven, God Bless ya Brother and your Family.

Five hundred years before Christ was born lived a man named Heraclitus. Heraclitus was a General, and in the business of training warriors. He had this much to say about that business...
“Of every one hundred men they send me, eighty of them are nothing but targets. Ten of them shouldn’t even be here. Of the ten that are left, nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they the battle make. Ah, but one, one is a warrior, and I must find him, for he will bring the others back, and he the battle wins.”

Rest in peace warrior, we who remain will continue the fight and honor your sacrifice. You and your family will be in our hearts and prayers. We will never forget...
